Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Workshop
The DEI (Diversity-Equity-Inclusion) Workshop is a one-day workshopstyle
course that will provide perioperative leaders with data and
tools to facilitate the hiring and ongoing professional development of
perioperative nurses to ensure the delivery of culturally competent care.
The topics for this course include:
» Data sources for the American nursing workforce
» The demographic makeup of the perioperative nursing workforce
» Findings from a nationwide survey of perioperative and perianesthesia
nurses
» Professional development pathways in perioperative nursing - From
Pre-licensure to Emeritus Status
» Funding sources for research supporting the perioperative nurse
workforce
» Instruments used in perioperative nurse workforce planning
» The CCI DEI Initiative
» The CFPN credential as an entry point to the specialty
» The synergy of credentialing and workforce development
Upon successful completion of this workshop, learners receive:
» A digital badge issued by the Competency and Credentialing Institute
» A summary of the recent literature on the demographic makeup of the
perioperative nursing workforce
» A copy of the findings from a nationwide research study conducted by
the Competency and Credentialing Institute
» A copy of the course syllabus and supporting documents for a 2-credit
college course for pre-licensure BSN students - Introduction to
Perioperative Nursing
» 6 CE credits which can be used in the recertification process for any
of the 5 CCI credentials which have a recertification requirement. 6 CE
equal 12 Professional Development Points within the CCI recertification
process
This program is not a certification. Learners must complete all course
requirements to earn the 6 CE.

The Professional Educator - Perioperative Certificate of
Mastery (PEP-COM)
Earn your Professional Educator - Perioperative Certificate of Mastery
by participating in the live course, and actively engaging in the lectures,
breakout sessions, and completing all required post-live course
assignments in the CCI learning management system.
In addition to pre and post course work, the following components will
be covered during the two-day course:
» EBP and Research: This session will review concepts such as conducting
a literature review and how to effectively promote evidence-based
practice to enhance optimal patient outcomes
» Professionalism and Leadership: This session will review the role of
the professional perioperative nurse educator in nursing professional
development. This role involves developing and supporting a healthy
work environment, demonstration of effective communication skills,
participation in the strategic plan of the organization, and appropriate
delegation
» Instructional design: This session will focus on theories and principles
related to both teaching and learning
» Staff development: This session will review topics such as coordinating
orientation and onboarding, competency management, and continuing
professional development
» Post-live: We will have a live virtual course following the live course and
it will include a Virtual Escape Room. (Multiple dates will be offered for
participation)
Upon successful completion of the Certificate of Mastery program, learners
receive:
» Electronic Certificate of Mastery
» Digital Badges for each of the components & the Certificate of Mastery
» 150 points towards CNOR/CSSM/CNAMB recertification requirements
This program is a Certificate of Mastery, not a certification. Learners must
complete all coursework within 6 months to earn the Certificate of Mastery.
