JUNE BAR FOUNDATION
EVENTS NET $62K FOR
JUSTICE-RELATED CAUSES

n Thursday, June 1, an
enthusiastic crowd of
nearly 300 concert goers
packed the Main Line's Ardmore
Music Hall to witness "lawyers who
rock" at LAWYERPALOOZA, a
unique concert event and fundraiser
staged to celebrate Montgomery
Bar Foundation's landmark 30th
anniversary and its generous
supporters. Six musical acts (all including Montgomery Bar
Association members) served up stellar sounds of rock, bluegrass,
acoustic, top-40, R&B, and
more, while guest emcee,
Judge Gary S. Silow, kept
things flowing between
set and wardrobe changes
with witty, irreverent
commentary. Throughout
the night, the enthusiastic
crowd danced, mingled, and took in the true musical talent in their
midst, which even included a surprise vocal performance by Judge
Thomas C. Branca. By all accounts, the night was a major success
for the Bar Foundation, which managed to net nearly $20,000 in
ticket sales, sponsorships and concert shirt sales. In addition to
raising critical funds and awareness for the Bar Foundation and
its causes, news coverage shined a positive light on "real lawyers."
When all was said and done, no one suffered any noticeable
long-term hearing loss, and everyone enjoyed an evening that will
live in their memories for years to come. Foundation President
Michael F. Rogers raved, "I could not have been more impressed
with the event. I was completely overwhelmed by the success of the
evening which had the perfect combination of charitable benefit,
appreciation/recognition for the Fellows, cooperation between the
bench and the bar, and great music. I will remember this for a long
time."

On the heels of
LAWYERPALOOZA was
the Bar Association and Bar
Foundation's annual Legal Aid
Golf Classic on June 23. Any
concerns about the sustainability
of both events taking place
within a 3-week window were
quickly silenced by a great team
effort by staff, a full field of golfers and generous sponsors, and
heated competition among the Bar's section leaders for raffle ticketsale-superiority in their 4th annual "Section Challenge." Against
all odds, the Young Lawyers
Section managed to eke out an
11th hour win to claim its 4th
consecutive raffle ticket Section
Challenge, and despite the
threat of thunderstorms, this
year's Legal Aid Golf Classic
managed to net a whopping
$42,000 for Legal Aid of
Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Amidst turbulent times, the
Montgomery Bar Foundation
continues to demonstrate what
a driving mission, dedicated
individuals, and hard work
can accomplish.
