Young Lawyers Section's Busy Summer
of Networking and Collaboration

T

his summer, the Young Lawyers Section has remained
busy with a number of happy hours that allowed
members to network with attorneys and judges from
other sections, committees and bar associations.
On June 8th, the YLS and the Trial Lawyers Section hosted
a joint happy hour with the bench at Bluestone Country Club.
A number of judges attended, as well as many successful trial
lawyers, providing a wonderful opportunity for young attorneys
to speak with more experienced attorneys about the practice
of law and work-life balance. Just a few weeks later, on June
29th, the YLS and the Women in the Law Committee hosted
a CLE presentation, followed by a joint happy hour. Women
in the Law Co-Chair, Lisa Shearman, presented the CLE titled
"Primer on Wills & Estates Planning." Attendees were then
provided with appetizers, beverages, and the chance to mingle.
On July 20th, the YLS joined together with Pennsylvania
Bar Association and the Chester County Bar Association's Young
Lawyers Division to host a Zone 9 Caravan at Bahama Breeze
in King of Prussia. Young attorneys from Delaware, Bucks,
Chester and Montgomery counties came out to enjoy food
and drinks together. It was a great opportunity for members to
catch up with old classmates and colleagues, and to meet new
acquaintances from the surrounding area.
The trend continued in September, as the YLS has partnered
with the Philadelphia Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division
for a happy hour at Skygarten, a new rooftop beer garden in
Philadelphia. The event was on September 14th at 6:00 p.m.,
and with no cost to attendees. Appetizers were provided, and the
first 75 attendees received a drink ticket, thanks to the sponsors,
CourtCall and Kaplan Leaman & Wolfe Court Reporting and
Litigation Support.
In addition to the numerous collaborations, the YLS recently
hosted a happy hour for members at Gypsy Blu in Ambler,
and the annual Fantasy Football Draft Party. Looking forward,
we hope to help with a Wills for Heroes event in the fall, plan
an event to show our new law student members what the Bar
Association has to offer, and sponsor a charity drive around
Thanksgiving.
