"When we put it together, we discovered
the bindings we had were too small and
we had to order bigger bindings."

The Marcellus Shale continues to remain an attractive target for West Virginia
producers, Haskins maintains. Three years

ago, more than 2,000 conventional wells
were being drilled annually; now the state
is recording about 200 permits a year.
However, he points out, the industry is
spending more to drill those 200 wells
than it was investing in the 2,000 wells.
The presence of a regional ethane cracker
can only add to oil and gas operators'
chances for economic success, he says.r

Winter Meeting
Highlights of IOGAWV's winter meeting, set for Feb. 21-22, include a presentation by EPA officials, a round table
discussion by several chief executive officers, and a luncheon address by Michael
Linn, executive chairman of the board of
LINN Energy LLC.
The meeting kicks off Tuesday, Feb.
21, with service sector presentations.
Burd says Halliburton, Nabors Industries
Inc., Baker Hughes Inc., Schlumberger
Limited, Weatherford International and
Universal Well Services Inc. will participate, either on the opening day or the
Wednesday session that closes the meeting.
"The companies like the opportunity to
showcase their latest and greatest technology advances, and it is free to anyone
who wants to come," he points out.
The IOGAWV sessions start with an
evening reception on Tuesday and pick
up again the following day, he says. At
the Wednesday evening banquet that
closes the convention, Burd says the
Washington political satire group Capitol
Steps will perform.
