Elects Bole Chairman
HOUSTON-The Texas Foundation
for Energy Education has elected David
L. Bole, managing director for Quantum
Energy Partners in Houston, as its
chairman. He succeeds Jim Beck,
former president of Seneca Resources.
Other new members elected to its
board of directors during its annual
meeting in November in Houston, the
foundation reports, are George A.
Alcorn, Alcorn Exploration Inc.; Galen
Cobb, Halliburton; Dan O. Dinges,
Cabot Oil & Gas Corp.; John
Hofmeister, Citizens for Affordable
Energy; and Townes G. Pressler,
Pressler Petroleum Consultants Inc.

Dear Editor:
The letter to the editor by Mike
Cantrell (AOGR, October 2011, pg. 24)
was a needed part of pointing out that
the oil and gas industry is under attack.
But he missed the utter hypocrisy of the
Obama administration.
A book has been published,
Democracy Denied, by Phil Kerpen,
that describes how the Obama cabal
dictates laws the same way Lenin and
Stalin did. The administration's fossil
fuel foes are alive and well.
Cantrell's letter recounts how the
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service found 28
birds in reserve pits in North Dakota
over 45 days. The operators face fines
of $15,000 a bird.
At that last published annual count,
34,000 birds-many of them eagles-
were killed by the blades of
unnecessary and unreliable wind
turbines. The cumulative count was
440,000 birds, not counting those that
were picked up by wind farm
employees on their rounds before the
USFWS "hunters" found them.

Gas Storage Levels
Decrease By 303 Bcf
WASHINGTON-Underground
natural gas storage in the United States
stood at 3.548 trillion cubic feet on Dec.
23, 13.7 percent above the five-year
average, according to the U.S. Energy
Information Administration. That was
down 303 billion cubic feet from the
3.851 Tcf reported by EIA on Nov. 25,
which was 7.3 percent above the fiveyear average. The Dec. 23 storage
number was 296 Bcf more than a year
ago, when storage stood at 3.252 Tcf.
EIA reports gas storage in the
producing region stood at 1.205 Tcf on
Dec. 23, 21.8 percent above the fiveyear average, but 56 Bcf less than the
1.261 Tcf reported in storage on Nov.
25, which was 14.4 percent above the
five-year average. The Dec. 23 storage
number for the producing region was up
85 Bcf from a year ago.
In the eastern region, EIA reports,
gas storage on Dec. 23 was 1.892 Tcf,
10.9 percent above the five-year
average, and down 182 Bcf from the
2.074 Tcf reported in storage on Nov.
25, which was 3.6 percent above the
five-year average. The Dec. 23 storage
number for the eastern region was up
206 Bcf, compared with a year earlier.
In the western region, EIA reports,
storage levels on Dec. 23 were 451 Bcf,
6.4 percent above the five-year average
and down 65 Bcf from the 516 Bcf
reported on Nov. 25, which was 6.0
percent above the five-year average.
The Dec. 23 storage number in the
western region was up 5 Bcf from a
year ago. r
