Woolslayer's Lee C. Moore
Announces New Contracts
TULSA-Woolslayer company Lee C.
Moore says it has signed a contract to provide custom mast and substructure packages
for a major U.S. drilling services provider,
and it also has reached a joint manufacturing
agreement with an engineering and fabrication company in Indonesia.
The company says both contracts are
for land-based applications that add to its
backlog, which stretches into 2013.
In the United States, Lee C. Moore
says it will engineer and fabricate 10 of its
highly mobile rig packages for a large
U.S.-based drilling services company. The
hydraulically raised cantilever mast, adjustable box-on-box substructure and ancillary equipment includes Lee C. Moore's
trademarked Rig Rover, which the company
says enables a drilling rig to move from
well to well without disassembling.
The joint manufacturing agreement provides a unique opportunity for drilling rig
masts and substructures to be built by both
the Indonesia-based partner and by Lee C.
Moore in Oklahoma, the company says. ❒

VAM To Build New Plant To Better Serve Northeast
YOUNGSTOWN, OH.-VAM USA
LLC has announced plans to develop a
new finishing plant in Youngstown.
The company says its plans call for
renovating a 200,000 square foot building
in the V&M STAR complex located
within the cooperative agreement zone
formed by Youngstown and Girard, Oh.,
in 2009.
VAM USA President Judson Wallace
predicts the $57 million investment will
yield an excellent return. "Expanding in
Youngstown makes sense for us because
it brings us very close to customers working

NOV® Reveals Upgrades To Two Cutter Brands
HOUSTON-National Oilwell Varco's
ReedHycalog® product group has introduced new HeliosEdgeTM and DuraForceTM
cutters.
The HeliosEdge cutters leverage the
work of a research and development group
that investigated complex wear mechanisms
involving impact damage, thermal degradation and abrasive wear, NOV® reports.
The company says the group's work has
improved performance in HeliosTM cutter-equipped bits. It adds that geometry
changes in the new HeliosEdge allow
higher penetration rates in torque and
weight-limited applications.

With reduced internal stresses, NOV
says the new Duraforce XD cutters raise
the bar on impact resistance while offering
superior thermal resistance. According
to NOV, the new design's benefits have
been proven through expansive field trials
in demanding applications. The company
says a bit equipped with Duraforce cutters
had an excellent run in the Eagle Ford
Shale, achieving an 8 percent increase in
interval and a 54 percent increase in rate
of penetration with very good dull condition.

Acquisition Of GeoSearch
Leads To Empirica Creation
HOUSTON-Reservoir Group reports
it has acquired geological and hydrocarbon
well logging service company GeoSearch
Logging Inc.
Reservoir Group notes GeoSearch,
headquartered in Oklahoma, has 12 locations across the United States and operates more than 75 active units.
GeoSearch provides geological consulting
services, vertical and horizontal well logs,
instrumentation, digital cuttings photography, and carbon dioxide monitoring.
The move marked Reservoir Group's
fifth acquisition of 2011, the company details, adding that all 232 GeoSearch personnel will remain with the company,
which will join with Reservoir Group's
surface logging services under the Empirica
brand. According to Reservoir Group, Empirica will focus on surface logging while
providing specialist services, and mud logging and surface measurements.
