Events for PIOGA's summer Pig Roast,
Equipment Show and Conference get under way on the evening of Monday, July
21, when PIOGA will cosponsor the National Wild Turkey Federation's "Energizing Conservation Fundraising Event"
at Seven Springs, indicates Debbie Oyler,
PIOGA's director of member services.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Activities
will include raffles and auctions, along
with speakers from various organizations
discussing how PIOGA members are
helping to establish a clean energy landscape and partnering with the federation
to advance conservation.
Tuesday, July 22, begins with a golf
outing and sporting clays shoot in the
morning, Oyler continues. The pig roast
and equipment show open at noon. In
addition to equipment show, she says,
afternoon activities include small Texas
hold 'em games, displays by artisans,
handwriting analyses, a caricature artist,
the Alpine slide, mechanical bull riding
and a disk jockey. The pig roast will
commence at 6 p.m., followed by a fireworks display.
Conference sessions begin at 9 a.m.
on Wednesday, July 23, and run until 5
p.m.

PUC, he continues. However, the association opposes a move to eliminate exemptions for conventional production and
rural (Class 1) gathering lines and facilities,
Moody says.
"There was no public safety problem
with the exemptions for the conventional
industry before, and there are none now,"
he insists.
PUC has voiced concerns about losing
federal pipeline safety funding if it retains
the exemptions, Moody relates, but PIOGA
and others have worked for months to
correct that misperception.
Producers can enroll their lines voluntarily, he says. "Producers have enrolled
some of these lines in more populated
areas and we say that is the way it should
be, unless there are changes at the federal
level.
"The reason federal agencies are looking at expanding the scope of federal
pipeline safety rules over gathering lines
is shale development, not conventional
operations," Moody reasons. "That is not
a reason to mess with our operations and
make us do what we have not had to do
before, where no public safety problem
has been shown."
