RiverRock Energy Forms With EnCap Commitment
SAN ANTONIO-RiverRock Energy
LLC has announced an initial equity
commitment of $125 million from private
equity firm EnCap Flatrock Midstream
and the company's management team.
RiverRock says it will develop midstream
solutions for oil and gas producers and
other customers needing crude oil logistics
services to gather, store and transport
crude oil by pipeline and rail.
In addition, RiverRock says it will
provide the necessary infrastructure to
handle condensate, fresh and produced
water, natural gas liquids and natural gas.
The company reports it is pursuing green
field and acquisition opportunities in
emerging resource plays and other producing basins experiencing rapid growth.
RiverRock's founding partners are President and Chief Executive Officer Greg
Schmidt, Executive Vice President and
Chief Operating Officer Patrick Eurek and
Vice President of Commercial Development
Keith Taylor. The company says its management team has 85 years of combined
energy industry experience in every aspect

Emerson Wireless Sensor
Providing Data For Statoil
HOUSTON-Emerson Process Management says it has deployed its Roxar
Downhole Wireless PT Sensor system as
part of a completion on Statoil's Skuld
Field in the Norwegian North Sea, where
it is measuring on-line and real-time pressure and temperature information from
behind the casing in a subsea production
well.
According to Emerson, the result for
Statoil is a tool for well integrity monitoring and offshore safety as well as adherence to Norwegian legal requirements
to monitor pressure in the B annulus behind the well casing. The company explains that its PT system provides a means
of detecting any variations in pressure
and temperature behind the casing in
subsea wells, particularly in the B annulus.
"Operators such as Statoil now will
have the information they need to make
informed decisions on the integrity of
the well casing, thereby improving control
over their production operations," says
Terje Baustad, product manager-downhole,

Total To Use Rigless ESPs
For Wells Offshore Congo
HOUSTON-Artificial Lift Company
reports it has deployed its AdvantageTM
rigless electric submersible pump system
for Total E&P Congo in the Republic of
Congo.
The rigless system was installed, conveyed and retrieved on a system integration
test water well in the Djeno Field, ALC
details. Total E&P Congo now will include
the system in offshore wells, which
account for all the company's production
and generally require secondary lift.
According to ALC, the slickline-conveyed, rigless ESP will reduce intervention
time, intervention cost and production
downtime resulting from limited workover
rig availability.

The CoolSetTM curable resin-coated proppant from Santrol prevents proppant flow

Cameron Provides Way To Monitor Subsea BOPs
HOUSTON-To help operators monitor
and maintain subsea blowout preventers,
Cameron has introduced the CognitionTM
stack instrumentation infrastructure package.
The system uses an array of new sensors to capture subsea BOP data, including
ram position, hydraulic fluid condition,
stack accumulator bottle fluid volume,
pressure and temperature, solenoid performance, and connector unlatch pressure,
Cameron relates. The company adds that
four redundant sensor interface boxes aggregate and store this data.
Wireless stingers provide inductive
data and power transfer between the lower
stack and the lower marine riser package,
Cameron continues. According to the
company, this approach improves longterm reliability by removing the metalto-metal contacts associated with traditional wet-mate connections.
To increase data availability in an

emergency, Cameron says the Cognition
package provides four ways to transmit
data from the subsea to the surface: dataover-power through the main umbilicals,
acoustic transducers, remote operating
vehicle connections, or the system's black
box. The subsea black box records and
stores three weeks of time-stamped data,
Cameron says. In the event of an incident,
the box can be retrieved for forensic
analysis, the company notes.
Cognition Knowledge Base provides
advanced analytics, alerts, alarms and reports that synthesize real-time and historical BOP data into useful information,
Cameron adds.
The company also has introduced the
EVO 300 BonnetTM for shearing thicker
tubulars. According to the company, the
new product provides 54 percent greater
ram closing force than earlier bonnets.
