IGC Integrated Interpretation
Covers Eastern Seaboard
HOUSTON-Integrated Geophysics
Corporation has completed its Eastern
Seaboard regional integrated interpretation package, which the company says is
designed for oil and gas companies that
need a first-pass look at this new frontier's regional tectonics and structural
trends. IGC says its expert team has reprocessed and interpreted the aeromagnetic profile data for enhanced results.
The Eastern Seaboard, which was
opened to geophysical exploration in July
2014, is estimated to contain 4.72 billion
barrels of recoverable oil and 37.51 trillion
cubic feet of natural gas from Florida to
Maine, IGC reports. Because it has been
closed to oil and gas exploration since the
1980s, the region represents a significantly
underexplored area, for which any 3-D
seismic data are lacking, IGC notes.
The company says gravity and magnetic
(GM) methods can support and substantiate
lead targets. "Combining seismic with GM
geophysics enables oil explorers to mitigate
the high cost of seismic acquisition," relates
IGC President Corine Prieto.

for more detailed and accurate interpretations than are possible with the input
data and conventional inversion methods," says Lumina Group President Carlos Moreno. "The multiattribute inversion
process predicts rock properties from
well logs away from and in between the
wells that have been used for correlation,
generating property volumes that are invaluable in understanding the reservoir's
character. This helps clarify the nature of
the reservoir away from the wells, reducing risk in well planning and field development."
LMKR says it has incorporated Lumina's unique approach into a new solution, Predict 3DTM, which it plans to
commercialize early this year. According
to the company, the software's ability to
predict the distribution of rock properties
away from correlation wells will help all
members of the asset team make timely,
informed decisions on critical activities.
For example, the data will help geoscientists select optimal landing zones for horizontals and enable geosteerers to keep
the bit in the center of sweet spot.
To streamline its implementation, the
software is fully integrated with GeoGraphix solutions, LMKR reports. The
company says Predict 3D has been designed to produce outstanding results and
time-effective projects with minimal user

Downhole Frontiers Extend With GeoWave® II By Sercel
PARIS-Sercel has launched GeoWave® II, which it describes as an innovative downhole seismic tool for
conducting safe and efficient vertical
seismic profile and hydraulic fracture
monitoring surveys in hostile well environments.
According to Sercel, GeoWave II is
the industry's first digital, multilevel
array specifically designed for high-temperature, high-pressure wells. It is capable of continuous data acquisition at
temperatures as hot as 400 degrees F, and
is rated to pressures as great as 25,000
psi, the company reports.
With new, optimized, high-speed
telemetry, as many as 120 levels can be
deployed safely on standard wireline for
hotter and deeper reservoirs, the com-

pany says. It adds that GeoWave II may
be configured to provide a 3,000 meter
array by using larger intertool spacing.
Optimized for seismic surveys and microseismic applications, Sercel says GeoWave II is sufficiently versatile to allow
downhole operations to be conducted in
any well type with a diameter between
three and 22 feet, and is compatible with
downhole tractor systems for deploying in
highly deviated and horizontal wells. It is
designed to withstand HP/HT environments for prolonged periods without the
need for a cooling system, features system
testing and monitoring capabilities, and
allows easy deployment and safe retrieval
in all conditions, the company says.
