FlexEnergy Chooses WPI
To Distribute Its Turbines

OPW subsidiary Midland Manufacturing has unveiled a new
website at www.midlandmfg.com.
According to the company, the
redesigned site focuses on a
streamlined browsing experience
while retaining Midland's excellent
reservoir of training materials,
technical support manuals and indepth product guides for its full
line of general-purpose and pressure tank-car rail products. The
company adds that the site
employs a responsive design so
mobile users can get information
quickly and easily.

LINN, QEP Form Alliance To Acquire Large Assets

HOUSTON-LINN Energy LLC and
LinnCo LLC report LINN has signed a
nonbinding letter of intent with private
capital investor Quantum Energy Partners
to fund oil and natural gas acquisitions
and develop those assets through an entity
called AcqCo.
Subject to final documentation, Quantum
has agreed to initially commit as much as
$1 billion to the partnership. LINN will
operate AcqCO's assets in exchange for
reimbursement of general administrative

Shell's Appalachian Arm
Earns CSSD Certification

PITTSBURGH-The Center for Sustainable Shale Development, a collaboration between environmental organizations and energy companies that aims to
encourage responsible shale gas development in the Appalachian region, has
certified Shell's SWEPI LP Appalachian
operation. CSSD says the certification
verifies that Shell complies with all 15
of its performance standards.
"Completing CSSD's demanding evaluation, verification and certification
process is an important achievement for
Shell and for the larger effort for environmentally protective practices in shale
development in the Appalachian Basin
region," comments Susan LeGros, CSSD
president and executive director.
Shell is one of the first companies to
be certified, LeGros notes. She encourages
other Appalachian Basin producers to
apply for certification as a way to demonstrate their commitment to the highest
performance standards.

available to companies that want to divest
large or complex assets. "Our partnership
with LINN will create a new strategic buyer
for these assets, one that has the capital resources and speed of a financial buyer but
the operational expertise and workforce of
a strategic acquirer," they say.

HOUSTON-FlexEnergy Inc. has
named Waukesha-Pearce Industries to distribute its turbine technology. The companies say their relationship initially will
cover the Marcellus Shale gas region.
"WPI's long history as a leading distributor of power generation equipment
in North America adds significant breadth
and depth to FlexEnergy's domestic
reach," says Andrew Seys-Llewellyn,
FlexEnergy's director of business development.
WPI is a Houston-based, 90-year-old
company that supports end-users in oil
and gas, gas compression, power generation
and mechanical drive applications, SeysLlewellyn notes. "From the outset, the
WPI team understood the advantages of
Flex technology over conventional microturbines and identified the value that
technology can bring to clients," he comments.
WPI Sales Director Fred Stow says,
"FlexEnergy shares its turbine technology
with larger, traditional turbines rather
than relying on power electronics. This
translates to lower maintenance and the

CONSOL, Halliburton Ally To Pioneer 4F Frac Spread
PITTSBURGH, PA.-CONSOL Energy and Halliburton are deploying the
first hydraulic fracturing spread that is
fully compliant with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 2015 Tier
4F emissions standard for nonroad, highhorsepower engines.
CONSOL says Tier 4F spreads will
be used on all six pads on Pittsburgh International Airport property, explaining
that they will reduce emissions 36 percent.
"Given the importance of this project
to the entire Pittsburgh region, we are

firmly committed to conducting our operations in accordance with the highest
safety and environmental standards," says
Tim Dugan, CONSOL's chief operating
officer for exploration and production.
Halliburton relates it has partnered
with Cummins to maximize the use of
the Tier 4F engines. In addition to
building a spread that is fully Tier 4Fcompliant, Halliburton adds it is using
emissions-reducing technologies on site,
including the solar-powered SandCastle®
PS-2500 vertical proppant storage system.
