Croft Opens Service Site For Marcellus Producers

NEEDVILLE, TX.-In response to demand from clients, Croft Production Systems Inc. has expanded its service area,
which already covers the Permian Basin
and Eagle Ford Shale, to reach the Marcellus Shale.
Specifically, the company says it has
stationed a service team in Morgantown,
W.V., that is on call 24/7 and performs
monthly service checkups on all of its gas
processing equipment in the service region.
Croft says the expansion will enable
it to more effectively market its Passive
Dehydration System®, an emission-free
alternative to a triethylene glycol dehydration unit that eliminates the need for
an air permit.

NGSA, CLNG Combine To Work On LNG Issues
WASHINGTON-The Natural Gas Supply Association, a coalition of integrated
and independent companies that supply natural gas, and the Center for Liquefied Natural
Gas, a trade association of LNG producers,
shippers, terminal operators and developers,
announce their intent to combine.
"Bringing CLNG under the NGSA
umbrella will increase the effectiveness
of both associations," says Dena E. Wiggins, president and chief executive officer
of NGSA. "To date, CLNG's efforts have

Varel's Fusion Bit Sets
Drilling Record In Oman

CARROLLTON, TX.-A Varel impregnated bit drilled 1,929 feet, successfully
drilling from the Gharif formation to the
Barakat formation in a northern Oman
field in one run, breaking the field's previous drilling record of 1,689 feet.
The Oman challenge was to drill the
casing shoe track and continue drilling
as far as possible. Varel says its team
recommended using an 83/8-inch
VF1613BTG FusionTM series impregnated
bit, the next generation in the company's
impregnated fleet and an evolution of
the VI1613BTG impregnated bit.
This single-bit run replaced an average
of 2.7 bits in offset wells to reach the
same depth below the shoe, Varel reports.

Baker Hughes Integrates
Ultradeepwater System
HOUSTON-Baker Hughes describes
its new HammerheadTM system as the oil
and gas industry's first fully integrated
wellhead-to-reservoir ultradeepwater completion and production system. The company says the Hammerhead system enables
reliable, long-term, high-rate production
in extreme environments such as the Gulf
of Mexico's Lower Tertiary trend.
According to Baker Hughes, the Hammerhead system closes an important technology gap to help operators realize fullfield economic payback from their ultradeepwater assets. The system includes
an upper completion, a lower completion,
an isolation assembly and intelligent production capabilities, and is fully compatible
with subsea boosting, the company adds.
The Hammerhead was designed and
tested for conditions in wells as deep as
33,000 feet and water as deep as 10,000
feet, including temperatures as hot as
300 degrees F and pressures as great as
25,000 psi, Baker Hughes relates. Based
on the test conditions, the company estimates the system can provide reliable
operations during well life cycles longer
than 20 years.
"We expect the Hammerhead system
to improve recovery factors by 2 percent
in the Lower Tertiary through enhanced
reservoir stimulation, higher drawdown
capability and long-term optimized production," says Richard Ward, Baker Hughes' president of global products and services.

Emerging Markets, MTN Sign Merger Agreement
MIAMI-Emerging Markets Communications has signed a definitive merger agreement to acquire MTN Communications, a
provider of communications and content
for remote locations around the world.
The combined entities say they will
provide services to land and maritimebased customers. With 1,600 vessels and
8,000 land-based customer sites, the combined organization reports it will be one
of the largest independent providers of
satellite connectivity services worldwide.
