Roswell, N.M.-based Manzano LLC is targeting the San Andres formation on 17,000
acres in Lea County, N.M., and Yoakum County, Tx. Utilizing private equity funding from
Dallas-based Energy Trust Co., Manzano has identified 92 potential horizontal locations
on its acreage.

The company is on its second private
equity funding with Dallas-based Energy
Trust Company, operating under the program as Manzano Energy Partners II. It has
identified 92 potential horizontal locations,
Barbe says.

"Fortunately, it is one of those projects
in which returns still look decent at today's
price range," he assesses. "We were playing the Bone Spring, mostly in New
Mexico, but acreage costs became expensive and well costs increased. We decid-

ed that was not as economic as what we
are seeing (in the San Andres)."
Barbe says Manzano is keeping one rig
going and is completing two wells a
month. It had 15 producing wells in the
San Andres program as of early May.
While 30-day IPs vary, he says the average has been about 400 boe/d.
With production of 75,000 barrels of oil
and 700 million cubic feet of gas a month
and a 50 percent working interest, Barbe
says Manzano always has been focused on
optimizing project economics. That emphasis has only been reinforced by lower oil and gas prices.
"We have seen dramatic savings in our
well costs, and we will remain dedicated
to developing and implementing cost-effective drilling and completion methods,
and efficient operations," he concludes.
