Hager says the best results have been
achieved in the Second Bone Spring interval. Devon's first well in the upper Second Bone Spring, the Boundary Raider 6
Federal 2H completed in the fourth quarter, had a 30-day IP of 2,400 boe/d. The
second well in the upper portion of the
Bone Spring, the Tomb Raider Fed 1H,
had an average 30-day IP of 1,500 boe/d.
The results highlight the opportunity to
develop multiple intervals in the Second
Bone Spring, where Devon also is testing
staggered laterals between the upper and
lower with 660-foot spacings, or about 80
acres, Hager explains.
Another planned pilot will test staggered laterals between the upper and lower Second Bone Spring intervals with 280foot spacing, as well as the deeper Third
Bone Spring potential, he adds.
"With commercial success from Devon's downspacing program, the company's risked, undrilled inventory from its
prolific Bone Spring position has the potential to significantly increase," Hager
says.
Altogether, Devon is planning to drill
240 Permian Basin wells this year with a
$1.3 billion capital budget, Hager concludes. The company is continuing to de-
velop Wolfcamp reserves in the Midland
Basin, focusing chiefly on appraising
properties in Martin County.

Devon Energy Corp., which reported a 12 percent bump in its Permian production for
the first quarter, is focusing on its Delaware Basin acreage in southeastern New Mexico, where the company is employing an enhanced completion design in the Bone Spring
formation. Development wells are being fractured with 1,900 pounds of sand per lateral foot, compared with 1,600 pounds in fourth quarter 2014 and an historical average
of 600 pounds.
