The Ohio Bureau of
Workers' Compensation and the Greater
Hamilton Safety Council of Hamilton, Oh.,
have recognized the
employees at OPW's
global headquarters in
Hamilton for their commitment to safety. The
facility, which manufactures liquid-handling
solutions,
received
three awards: the 100
Percent Award, the
Group Award, and the
Special Award. These rewards reflect zero incidents of lost-time injury or illness, the lowest
overall incident rate for the facility's group, and overall efforts to prevent accidents and injuries, OPW says. The company reports that the facility has surpassed 1.5 million hours
worked without a lost-time accident.

FreeWave Offers Solution For Logging SCADA Data

BOULDER, CO.-FreeWave Technologies has added data logging functionality
to its WaveContactTM family, which provides Class 1, Division 1 and Division 2certified wireless input/output solutions
for machine-to-machine applications.
The data logger, a new feature on the
WaveContact 50i data concentrator, can
capture and provide a historical I/O data
source for FreeWave's customers that
deploy sensor and automation technology,
FreeWave says.
"We developed the data logger to
better serve customers' needs for a reliable
secondary data source from any sensor
they deploy in both hazardous and nonhazardous environments," says Glenn
Longley, FreeWave's director of product
management for I/O and software. "By
combining the data logger functionality

with WaveContact, we are helping customers simplify their overall SCADA
network scheme and reduce costs and
installation issues while enabling historical
data logging from multiple data sources
using both FreeWave I/O and wireless
connections to third-party Modbus devices."
The data logger enables wireless
recording of second-by-second sensor
data, according to FreeWave. The company says the data logger feature allows
the WaveContact 50i to serve as both a
master radio and data logger, which can
save costs by eliminating the need to
buy third-party data loggers or expensive
remote terminal units or programmable
logic controllers that only log inputs.

Gulf Operator Taps CARBO For Scale-Fighting Proppant

HOUSTON-CARBO Ceramics Inc.
has applied two of its proppant technologies, KRYPTOSPHERE ® HD and
SCALEGUARD®, for a major operator
in the Gulf of Mexico's Lower Tertiary
trend. CARBO points out the job is the
largest and deepest application of the
technologies to date.
KRYPTOSPHERE HD is an ultrahigh
conductivity proppant for deep wells that
has been engineered to withstand high
closure stresses and extreme cyclic loading
conditions for the life of the well, CARBO
describes.
According to the company, SCALEGUARD is the first production enhance-

ment technology in which scale-inhibiting
chemicals are infused into a ceramic
proppant, then released in a controlled
fashion to provide long-term protection
against common oil field scales. SCALEGUARD is designed to safeguard the
entire production network-from the fracture through the wellbore to the subsea/surface processing equipment-without compromising fracture conductivity, CARBO
says. The company notes that in this Gulf
well, KRYPTOSPHERE HD was the
base proppant for SCALEGUARD.

Water Technologies and SnS Resources
Inc. have partnered to provide oil and
