New Artificial Lift System Shines In First Field Trial
HOUSTON-In its first field trial,
Baker Hughes' LEAPTM adaptive production system is delivering 300 percent
greater oil production and 200 percent
more natural gas production than the
previous artificial lift solution, Baker
Hughes reports. The new system was
installed at a depth of 5,200 feet in the
Mississippian Lime play in Woods
County, Ok., for SandRidge Energy.
Baker Hughes describes the system
as an entirely new approach to artificial
lift that is designed to adapt to unconventional oil wells' often dynamic production profiles. A promotional video

system can handle production volumes

Pemex Extends ION's Pact
To Process Seismic Data
HOUSTON-ION Geophysical Corp.
has been awarded an extension to its existing multiyear contract with Petróleos
Mexicanos. Under this contract, ION says
it is providing a broad range of seismic
data processing for multiple offshore and
onshore surveys. The work will be executed at ION's Villahermosa, Mexico and
Houston offices and through its Houston
high performance computing center.
ION says it will utilize its proprietary
imaging technologies to process seismic
data it has acquired for Pemex, including in
deepwater regions of the Gulf of Mexico, in
highly complex subsalt areas, and in various
onshore regions throughout Mexico.
The scope of services includes velocity
model building, pre-stack depth migration
using both beam migration and high frequency reverse time migration techniques,
and ION's latest advancements in full waveform and orthorhombic tomography, the
company says. It adds that, through its professionals at Villahermosa, ION will collaborate closely with its Pemex counterparts
to accelerate identification of exploration
leads and development drilling targets.

displacement pump, which can be installed to sit deeper in a well than traditional rod pumps; a submersible linear
electromagnetically actuated motor,

source of failure in rod lift systems);
and a sensor that provides pressure and
temperature data to help ensure the
highest level of production optimization
and system longevity. The company
says the LEAP system surface variable
speed drive's proprietary software integrates with downhole electronics to allow pumping system speed and stroke length
to be adjusted remotely as

HOUSTON-Emerson Process Management's OpenEnterprise v3 SCADA
platform for the onshore oil and gas market
now has a native interface to the AMS
Device Manager asset management software, enabling users to remotely manage
and maintain HART and WirelessHART
devices in wide-area SCADA networks.
Combining OpenEnterprise v3.2 with
AMS Device Manager allows asset owners
to extend the reach of their predictive
maintenance capability to remote assets,
providing a powerful and proactive method
of diagnosing potential problems remotely,
Emerson reports. The company says this
reduces trips to the field and unplanned
process shutdowns.
The native interface to AMS Device
Manager enables users to collect wired and
wireless HART digital device data over
low bandwidth wide-area SCADA networks
from Emerson ROC, FloBoss, and ControlWave RTUs without adding the additional

complexity and expense of external HART
multiplexers, Emerson describes. According
to the company, support for AMS Device
Manager SNAP-ON applications, OpenEnterprise SCADA server redundancy, multiple
deployment options, and data collection
for as many as 10,000 HART devices ensure
flexibility and scalability for a wide range
of remote applications.
