fee per month."
Ultralow Density Fluids

The K-ViewTM carbon dioxide surveillance platform developed by Seismos Inc. utilizes
seismic signals discarded by the conventional seismic industry as noise to track the underground movement of CO2, explains Chief Executive Officer Panos Adamopoulos. A
six-inch emitter sends energy down the fluid in a well's tubing, which is detected by sensors on the wellhead.

than 90 days and first-year return-on-investment projections of up to 100 percent,
Adamopoulos says Seismos provides immediate and tangible benefits to operators.
He explains that the emitter, which
has a footprint of about six inches, sends
energy down the fluid in the tubing,
which is detected by sensors on the wellhead. The data are processed in real time
through cloud-based systems.
The system doesn't focus on conventional seismic such as P and S waves, he
says. "Seismos focuses on specific signals
the seismic industry has discarded as
noise because conventional technology
has not been developed adequately to interpret them," he says. "Now, we not
only have a way to explain it, we have
found that the majority of information
that is relevant to the reservoir is contained
in the noise, so we use that 'noise' in our
platform, and that makes our science
component extremely interesting and effective."
Adamopoulos says more costly labor
and equipment-intensive survey-based
technologies can take months to gather
and interpret data. "By the time operators
get the information, it can be completely
irrelevant; they can spend millions to get
information that is not real time," he
insists, pointing out that real time for KView can include data on CO2 movement
a week after monitoring. "We don't have
to wait 9-12 months for the information."
Adamopoulos says Seismos has installed systems in Texas and New Mexico.
An analysis the company commissioned
indicates that deploying K-View in a 50well project can result in more than $150

million of economic benefit from incremental production resulting from improved
sweep, he adds.
While Seismos doesn't reveal specific
pricing, Adamopoulos insists the cost of
the continuous-surveillance product is
significantly less than conventional timelapse, surveys-based technologies.
"Instead of asking customers for 3040 percent upfront, we make it easy by
asking them to pay us per well and per
month for continual surveillance,
Adamopoulos reveals. "We adopted a
software approach and charge a small

The combination of Allied Oil &
Gas Services LLC's SealCheckTM
and FeatherWeightTM products is
helping drillers avoid lost circulation to lower overall drilling and
production costs. Senior Vice
President Don Simon describes
SealCheck as a fiber technology
that forms a nondamaging,
meshed network on the rock surface to help prevent lost circulation, while FeatherWeight is the
company's lightweight blend capable of obtaining superior set
properties at ultralow densities.

Operators continue to deploy Allied
Oil & Gas Services LLC's cementing
products and services to avoid lost circulation and to obtain superior set properties
with ultralow density fluid systems, says
David Simon, senior vice president sales
and marketing, headquartered in The
Woodlands, Tx.
"The combination of SealCheck™ and
FeatherWeight™ works extremely well
together," he attests, saying The technologies are effective at enabling drillers
to achieve the desired top-of-cement and
adequate wellbore isolation needed in
preparation for completion.
"They complement each other in a
system," Simon says. "Combining the
two products creates a premium blend to
optimize the integrity and isolation of
the cement job behind the pipe."
SealCheck helps prevent lost circulation
caused by fluid escaping from the wellbore
into the reservoir through natural fractures,
which Simon notes is one of the top
three contributors to nonproductive time
and unexpected cost during drilling operations.
He explains that SealCheck is a fiber
technology that forms a nondamaging,
meshed network on the rock surface to
