Addax Selects Paradigm® To Predict Pore Pressures
HOUSTON-Addax Petroleum has acquired the Paradigm® pore pressure prediction module to complement its Paradigm
suite of products, which includes Paradigm
SKUA-GOCAD™, Geolog® and EarthStudy
360®. The module has been embedded in
Geolog as Addax Petroleum's corporate
tool for pore pressure prediction, Paradigm
reports.
According to the company, the Geolog
log-based pore pressure prediction module
uses well log data to predict pore and
fracture pressure profiles. Following data
preparation and compaction trend analysis,
the module calculates hydrostatic pressure,
overburden pressure, pore pressure, and
fracture pressure in a single multitab program, Paradigm says.
To customize the solution, Paradigm
relates, its developers worked closely

with Addax Petroleum to expand the
module's functionality. According to Paradigm, the companies quickly implemented a single, full workflow interface
and added more than 20 features, including
additional methods for modeling missing
input log data, new compaction trend options, pore pressure evaluation from multiple logs, and fracture pressure calibration.
"The close collaboration with Paradigm's
developers allowed quick development of
a fit-for-purpose solution for pore pressure
and fracture gradient prediction and follow-up," says Serge Marnat, technical services manager at Addax Petroleum. "It
helped us perform successful drilling in a
challenging high-pressure well offshore
West Africa."

MicroSeismic Inc. Releases Services For Well Appraisal
HOUSTON-MicroSeismic Inc. has
released PIndexTM, DIndexTM and Production Forecast, its proprietary completions
evaluation services to quantify and predict
reservoir drainage and production.
These new services advance completion
evaluation for unconventional wells beyond
the commonly-used statistical modeling
approach to a new observation-based approach, MicroSeismic indicates. The new
analysis methods use observations taken
directly from the reservoir, capturing the
effects from hydraulic fracturing to provide
more accurate, specific estimates of future
incremental production and estimated ultimate recovery. The company adds that
the services help optimize fields by accurately predicting per-well and per-stage
performance weeks after a completion,
eliminating the need to wait six-12 months

for production data.
According to MicroSeismic:
* PIndex estimates the well's relative
productivity. It shows a direct comparison
of well productivity and identifies differences between wells, providing immediate
feedback to adjust overall completion
strategies.
* DIndex quantifies the well's current
and future reservoir drainage volume and
pattern. The result is a map of future incremental reservoir depletion, showing
when drawdown pressures from adjacent
wells will interact to give operators the
control to adjust operating parameters
and plan well spacing and production
timing.
* Production Forecast predicts each
well's future incremental production and
EUR after completion. Because Production
Forecast is based on the post-treatment
reservoir, it is far more accurate than
other common statistical methods for predicting production. This helps operators
plan entire fields based on observed well
performance, before most of the wells
have even begun to produce.
