ESG Service Sheds Light
On Completion Efficiency
HOUSTON-ESG Solutions has
launched its Enhanced Reservoir Characterization (ERC) service for hydraulic fracturing.
Building on its patented methods for
characterizing fluid flow and reservoir
drainage patterns using microseismicity,
ESG says the new service helps clients
understand reservoir processes to improve
hydraulic fracture efficiencies, while demonstrating the potential to outline production
from hydraulic fracturing.
"During 20-plus years in the microseismic industry, ESG has seen the focus
of microseismic analysis for hydraulic
fracturing change from evaluation of discrete
seismic event locations to understanding
the collective behavior of clusters of seismicity on reservoir deformation," says Ted
Urbancic, the company's chief technology
officer. "Operators are looking constantly
to tie microseismicity to production, and

next piece of the puzzle."
The ERC service is an extension from
ESG's patent-pending SMTI Production
Suite™, which the company says uses advanced moment tensor analysis to evaluate
the way rock fractures in response to hydraulic fracturing stimulations. "We are
using a suite of new dynamic parameters
to evaluate reservoir deformation efficiency,"
says Adam Baig, ESG's manager of advanced analytics. "We are seeing that these
dynamic parameters are linked to rock
properties and fracture success, and ultimately production volumes. Client feedback

CGG Conducts Multiclient Surveys Offshore Mexico
PARIS-CGG announces it has commenced a multiclient airborne gravity
and magnetic survey offshore Mexico.
The company says Mexican regulators
authorized the program, which will acquire
200,000 line kilometers over six areas
across the Mexican Gulf of Mexico.
Data acquisition commenced in March,
CGG says, estimating the undertaking
will take 12 months using specialized

HOUSTON-Cook Compression says
the quality management system at Dover
Pearland Operations has received ISO
9001:2008 certification.
According to the company, DPO is a
150,000 square-foot facility shared by Cook
Compression and fellow Dover companies
Bearings Plus and Midland Manufacturing.
Cook Compression says DPO's shared services strategy improves internal efficiencies,
processes and synergies.
The certification recognizes the companies' joint efforts, covering the design,
manufacture, service and repair of compressor valves, fuel gas injection valves,

geophysical survey aircraft. The company
adds that the project has received significant
oil and gas industry prefunding.
CGG expresses confidence the Mexican
Gulf of Mexico contains significant new
petroleum potential, both in the shallow
and deepwater areas. The company indicates the survey will provide coverage
over the most prospective areas, from the
prolific Perdido fold belt with AOI 1, to
the more mature near-shore heavy oil belt
with AOI 6. The data will help explorers
map crystalline basement, and magnetic
and density anomalies within the sedimentary section. The airborne survey also
will collect continuous data through the
transition zone from the marine environment to onshore, CGG concludes.
