EFRS's Gator Perforator
Eliminates Explosives
HOUSTON-Energy Fishing & Rental
Services has introduced what it says is
the first commercial perforating system
that operates reliably without explosive
charges.
According to EFRS, the Gator multiuse
perforating system employs a proprietary,
hydro-mechanical design to perforate casing efficiently and effectively, with a dramatic increase in safety compared with
conventional explosive perforating tools.
The design enables repeat use and the
system can perform unlimited perforations
on a single trip, the company says.
The Gator system is available with
differential pressure ratings of 10,000
and 15,000 psi, EFRS reports, adding
that applications include water injection
well integrity, plug and abandonment,
completions, and production. The system
also eliminates the need for toe sleeves,
wet shoes and TCP runs, the company
continues, and can run in tandem with a
coiled tubing clean-out run for well preparations before fracturing.
Because it eliminates explosives, EFRS
suggests its system is ideal for use in
populated or high-traffic areas.
For information, contact EFRS at 281381-7573.

U.S. Silica Buys Reserves
Next To Ottawa, Il., Mine
FREDERICK, MD.-U.S. Silica Holdings
Inc. has purchased a fully permitted, 327acre parcel of land adjacent to its silica
sand mine and plant in Ottawa, Il. The
company expresses plans to use the land
for future mining operations ,and says it
will add about 30 million tons of proven
reserves. U.S. Silica purchased the property
from a privately-held mining company.
U.S. Silica describes the reserves as
high quality Ottawa White Sand and says
they will produce coarse, medium and
fine product grades. "Our strong balance
sheet gives us the ability to move decisively
when making opportunistic investments
such as this, which will help extend the
life of our flagship operation, ensure our
long-term competitive position in the marketplace, and ultimately drive business
success," says U.S. Silica President and
Chief Executive Officer Bryan Shinn.

Select Unveils Solutions To Automate Water Transfer
HOUSTON-Select Energy Services
LLC has launched AquaLogicTM, which
it describes as a full suite of automated
water transfer solutions consisting of
automated equipment-including pumps
and a proportioning system-that responds
to operator specifications and changing
conditions in real time.
"This is essentially the next step to
enhancing efficiency in water operations,"
says Nate Banda, Select's director of
operational technology. "AquaView®
gives our customers the ability to monitor

and track their water; AquaLogic allows
them to automate the movement of water
and conduct operations closer to their
physical limits while maintaining strict
safety standards."
According to Select, AquaLogic water
transfer pumps use sensors and programming to operate and maintain desired
water flow rates by modulating pressure
within the system. The pumps remotely
and automatically transfer water by raising
and lowering pump RPM based on incoming and discharge water data points
that are collected and shared throughout
the system.

Select Energy Services' automated AquaLogic™ suite uses data collected throughout the water transfer system to maintain
desired flow rates. The company says the
system improves efficiency without compromising safety.

Nine Energy Service Inc. Completes 124-Stage Well
HOUSTON-Nine Energy Service Inc.
says it has completed 124 perforated
stages in a 18,544-foot lateral on a Utica
Shale well in Guernsey County, Oh., for
Eclipse Resources.
In what Nine describes as one of the
most complex wells either company ever
has completed, Nine's wireline division
worked with Eclipse to design the plugand-perf system using National Oilwell
Varco's Cerebus Well Modeling software,
improving planning and deployment of

cable-conveyed tools. Nine says it completed all 124 stages in 23.5 days without
any nonproductive time.
Says Nick Pottmeyer, Nine's North American vice president of completions technology,
"Longer laterals are proving to be a more
effective way to develop acreage in today's
environment. Increased well costs to drill
further can be justified by the improved
production ranges and return on revenue."

Packers Plus Cemented System Cuts Costs, Risks
HOUSTON-Packers Plus Energy Services Inc. reports it has completed a multicluster stimulation in a cemented system,
which simulated plug-and-perf operations
in the Meramec formation within Oklahoma's Sooner Trend Anadarko Canadian
Kingfisher (STACK) play. Unlike plugand-perf, the company says, the Packers
Plus QuickFRAC® system provides uniform
fluid distribution to all entry points, effectively stimulating all stages and each cluster
within each stage.
According to Packers Plus, the well
design used five QuickPORTTM IV sleeves
a stage. Specially sized nozzles on each
sleeve prevented entry point erosion, providing a more effective treatment and efficient

use of fluid and proppant volumes, the company says. All stages were monitored using
a surface-deployed ePLUSTM retina monitoring system, which confirmed that each
QuickPORT IV sleeve was opened and
stimulated successfully. The stimulation was
completed with a 100 percent success rate
for ball launch, ball seat and sleeve shifts,
Packers Plus reports.
"The main advantages to this innovative
technology is that QuickFRAC guarantees
uniform distribution of stimulation fluid,
resulting in increased ultimate recovery,
while reducing well cost," says Packers
Plus President Ian Bryant.
