HOUSTON-Flotek Industries Inc. has
closed the acquisition of International Polymerics Inc. and affiliates for $7.9 million in
cash and 248,000 shares of common stock.
According to Flotek, IPI is based in
Dalton, Ga., with a distribution center in
Monahans, Tx., and is one of the oil and
gas industry's largest U.S. suppliers of
natural polymers. IPI was founded by
Donald Bramblett, who Flotek describes
as a leading expert on natural polymers
and developing guar applications in the
energy and textile trades. IPIs' proprietary
guar processing systems have provided
high-quality guar powder and slurry to oil
and gas clients for nearly a decade in
nearly every producing basin in the United
States, Flotek indicates.

to acquire Sandbox Enterprises LLC, which
it describes as a leading provider of innovative logistics solutions and technology
for transporting containerized proppant.

HOUSTON-Halliburton has released
CALIBR engineered flowback service,
which the company says applies advanced
diagnostics and a collaborative workflow
to continuously manage flowback operations
to improve well productivity. The service
also helps maximize water recovery and
reduce drawdown-associated fracture damage, Halliburton adds.
The company explains that CALIBR
acquires real-time surface data during flowback operations, analyzes this data to determine reservoir response, and recommends
adjustments for optimizing recovery and
long-term performance.
Halliburton says it collects data through
the Self Powered Intelligent Data Retriever
(SPIDR®), which produces high resolution
well pressure information and provides
greater insight, allowing the service to be
tailored across rigs. "CALIBR is a first of
a kind service that combines multiple areas
of expertise," says Grant Roscoe, vice
president of Halliburton Testing and Subsea.

Emerson Starts Service For Verifying Level Instruments
AUSTIN, TX.-Emerson has introduced a guided wave radar (GWR) verification service to help users verify their
Rosemount level instrument performance.
With Emerson's new service, which
the company reports is quicker, more
accurate and safer than alternative methods, technicians go to the client's location
and provide verification without disturbing
normal operations, using calibration hardware with traceability to recognized standards to perform a five-point accuracy
verification. Emerson adds that in addition
to verifying accuracy and making any
required adjustments, the GWR level
instrument's condition and configuration
are evaluated to ensure optimum performance.

According to Emerson, when used in
oil and gas applications, the service can
provide the inspections required by regulatory organizations and also can verify
measurement accuracy for custody transfers.
"Most GWR level instruments have
to be verified annually," says Christoffer
Widahl, senior strategic product manager
at Emerson. "Companies do not like
sending their people on top of tanks, and
moving enough product in and out of a
tank to provide the required range of
calibration tanks is a major disruption.
Our service can verify performance across
a full range without breaking the tank's
seal."

LORD Corp. has deployed third-generation
prototypes of its SoftShoe™ products for
ﬁeld testing. Designed to protect probestyle measurement-while-drilling tool
strings from high-energy axial shocks,
the prototypes employ a dual compression
compliance element rather than a single
compression element to provide additional
longevity, LORD says. Customers report
the previous model reduced shock events
more than 50 percent over 30 gravities
with more than 500 circulating hours below rotary table, LORD adds. The ﬁeld
