Baker Hughes' Small ESP Has Vast Operating Range
HOUSTON-Baker Hughes' CENtrilift
PASS™ slim-line electric submersible
pump system helps operators optimize
production while lowering lifting costs
in small-diameter wellbores or wells
with restricted space because of casing
patches or complex completion designs,
Baker Hughes reports.
The system incorporates the 3.38-inch
FLEXPumpER™ extended range pump.
With an operating range between 50 and
2,500 barrels a day, the pump mitigates
the need to change out the system as production rates decline, Baker Hughes says.
The company adds the pump's optimized
flow path improves reliability by preventing
solids buildup and abrasive wear.
According to Baker Hughes, the CEN-

trilift PASS has the industry's most comprehensive suite of slim-line gas management technologies. As an example, the
company highlights the NiXit™ gas management intake, which combines natural
and mechanical separation in a single
design to minimize the amount of gas entering the pump, regardless of its orientation.
Any gas that enters the pump is effectively handled by the GI™ gas insurance
boost pump and a FLEXPumpER pump,
Baker Hughes assures. Together, the
company says, the pumps enable the
system to handle gas volume fractions
exceeding 60 percent.
With a pressure rating of 5,800 psi,
Baker Hughes adds that the ESP can be
installed closer to the production zone,
where it can achieve greater reservoir
pressure drawdown and higher recovery rates.

Container Experts Merge
To Form Hoover Ferguson
HOUSTON-Hoover Container Solutions, Ferguson Group, and CHEP Catalyst
& Chemical Containers (CCC)-global
providers of container solutions products
in the energy, petrochemical and general
industrial markets-announce they are merging to form Hoover Ferguson Group (HFG).
The company describes itself as a worldwide leader in manufacturing intermediate
bulk containers and offshore work space
and accommodation modules. The new
entity says it combines three industryleading service providers with demonstrated
commitments to customer service, operational excellence and quality.
HFG notes it will be a 50/50 joint
venture between Brambles Limited, the
owner of Ferguson and CCC, and Hoover's
shareholders.
The new entity will have a leading
market presence in every major energy
basin, HFG says. The company reports it
has 70 service centers in 26 countries, and
one of the largest global fleets of rigid
steel, intermediate bulk containers and
cargo container units, with more than
110,000 rental units.

the geographic area and minimum purchase
requirements in August to include the entire
United States and Canada with an additional
$500,000 of required tool purchases.
DTI exceeded its requirements, purchasing $2.3 million in tools as of the end
of the third quarter, the companies report,
adding DTI had ordered an additional
$580,000 in tools in the first two weeks of
October.
"The value of Drill-N-Ream clearly is
resonating with operators. We believe that
by partnering with DTI, we are able to
quickly capitalize on the necessity for operators to reduce production costs to compete
effectively at current commodity prices,"
says Superior Chief Executive Officer Troy
Meier. "DTI has had our tool successfully
tested in Canada, and is adding sales personnel to its team to address the growing
interest in the Drill-N-Ream."

KARMIEL, ISRAEL-OPGAL Optronic Industries Ltd. is launching two cameras
for monitoring and detecting carbon dioxide
and carbon monoxide gas leaks in enhanced
oil recovery and other industrial applications.
EyeCGas CO2 and EyeCGas CO will
enable operators to safely, efficiently and
cost-effectively detect and monitor gasses
in remote and hazardous locations, OPGAL
says. The company points out that the
cameras can detect gases remotely, a big
benefit over traditional, more labor-intensive
methods such as electrochemical or catalytic
detectors, which detect gas in close proximity.
The infrared gas imaging cameras enable
operators to immediately identify, source
and record video of CO2 gas leaks in concentrations as low as 3 percent with pinpoint
accuracy, OPGAL reports. According to
the company, this lets users prioritize maintenance and quickly repair leaks, shortening
startup times and production interruptions.
