now offers LENS™ Wireless technology,
which the company says draws on military
ad-hoc mesh networking concepts to enable
gas monitors to communicate with each

Pro Series multigas monitors and Radius™
BZ1 area monitors are both available with
LENS technology. The company says it is
the first manufacturer to enable personal,
portable gas monitors to communicate directly with area monitors to share gas readings and alarm conditions.
LENS Wireless groups are quick and
easy to create, allowing for rapid deployment
and use, Industrial Scientific continues.
When a gas hazard, man down, or panic
situation triggers an alarm, all peers in the
connected group are notified of the hazard
and the person in danger instantly, the
company says. It emphasizes that alerting
nearby peers allows faster responses than
notifying a control room or call center.

Anadarko Acquires Assets From Freeport-McMoRan
HOUSTON-Anadarko Petroleum
Corp. reports it has acquired FreeportMcMoRan Oil & Gas' deepwater Gulf
of Mexico assets.
"As a result of closing this transaction,
Anadarko now operates the largest number
of floating production facilities in the
deepwater Gulf of Mexico, which provides
a competitive advantage to leverage this
infrastructure into attractive new investment opportunities," says Anadarko Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Al Walker. "This region continues
to play a key role in our portfolio by
contributing to our higher-margin oil
growth profile, while generating substantial future free cash flow to accelerate
the growth of our world-class U.S. onshore
assets in the Delaware and Denver-Julesburg basins."
The transaction doubles Anadarko's
ownership in the Lucius development to
49 percent, doubles its Gulf of Mexico
production to 160,000 net barrels of oil
equivalent a day, and increases its quantity
of operated facilities from seven to 10,
Anadarko reports. The company says its
expanded deepwater portfolio provides
numerous hub-and-spoke opportunities

NOV Buys Global Provider Of Processing Technology
HOUSTON-National Oilwell Varco
Inc. has acquired Fjords Processing, which
it describes as a leading provider of processing technology, systems and services
to the upstream industry.
"Fjords Processing has a long and rich
history of developing and providing innovative technologies related to separation,
water treatment, and oil and gas processing
solutions," praises Clay Williams, NOV's
chairman, president and chief executive

Pioneer, Midland Partner
To Conserve Freshwater
MIDLAND, TX.-Midland and Pioneer
Natural Resources report they have signed
an historic agreement that will upgrade
the city's infrastructure while saving millions of gallons of freshwater.
Through the agreement, Pioneer will
provide $110 million to upgrade the
city's wastewater treatment plant in
return for reclaimed water from the
plant for oil and gas development in the
Midland Basin, Midland describes. The
city says it selected Pioneer as its partner
for the endeavor through a proposal
process.
"This partnership is a win-win for residents and our area's water security
moving forward," comments City Manager
Courtney Sharp. "Our agreement with
Pioneer is a perfect example of how
public and private entities can maximize
their resources by working together."
"Pioneer is focused on efficiency in
every aspect of our business, and water
use is no exception," says President and
Chief Operating Officer Tim Dove. "Our
agreement with Midland moves Pioneer
toward its goals of significantly reducing
the use of freshwater in our operations,
and creating a reliable, long-term source
of water."
