Why is there a need for the Contract
Manufacturing Supplier Directory, which
Store Brands has been offering for nearly
10 years? The answer is simple: The private
brands industry is thriving.
Since the end of last year, there have been
numerous reports touting the growth of
private brands. One of the latest reports from the Food Marketing
Institute and market researcher IRI says that private brand
performance within the grocery channel increased dramatically
in the past year, posting annual sales of $138 billion across multioutlet plus convenience store retail channels in the U.S. in 2017.
Earlier this year, Daymon estimated in an in-depth study
that in-store and online sales of private brands from traditional
grocers, deep discounters, mass merchandisers, convenience
stores and other retailers increased 4 percent in 2017, eight times
more than national brand sales. Private brands contributed an
estimated $50 billion in margin to retailers' sales in 2017, an
increase of $2 billion since 2016.
