2022 - 2023 Far West Skier's Guide - 41

Women's Ski Jumping - A movement
for the recognition of Women's Ski Jumping
started early in the Far West region in Park
City, Utah. Far West Ski Foundation, in collaboration
with the Far West Ski Association,
has supported Women's Ski Jumping USA
(WSJUSA) since 2009, with special campaigns
within organized skiing. Deedee Corradini, the
former Mayor of Salt Lake City and the first
woman President of Women's Ski Jumping,
was the outspoken and unyielding leader in
the global fight to allow women to participate
in ski jumping at the Olympic level. That
dream was realized at the 2014 Olympic
Winter Games in Sochi. Deedee was honored
by Far West Ski Association as the 2009
Snowsports Builder. The Foundation has resolved
to make scholarship grants to the Fly
Girls program in honor of Deedee Corradini.
Preserving the Legacy - From the discovery
of skis in the Altai of China as early as
8000BC, as a toll for transportation through
the succeeding millennia and across seven
continents, to today's use of skis and snowboards
for sport, activities we now label as
snowsports have played a significant role, not
just within sport itself but in societies at large.
Throughout this enduring history, snowsports
has played an historic role in the development
of communities, the exposure to healthful outdoor
exercise, increase of fitness in winter, and
the thrill of competition, whether as a competitor
or as an observer. Bringing the elements
of this legacy to the world is a task in which
the Foundation aims to play a part. The Foundation
supports preservation of the legacy
through research, publications, educational
media and support to museums and cultural
centers for display and secure storage of memorabilia.
The Foundation has approved grants
to the Squaw Valley Ski Museum Foundation
(SNOW Sports Museum) and the California
Ski Library.

US Ski & Snowboard
Foundation
" The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Foundation is one
of the leading foundations in the Olympic
community. We raise approximately $20 million
annually in support of our sports and
athletes, which is incredible. Our donors and
Board of Trustees are instrumental in our success
and help our athletes travel, train and
compete. " Trisha Worthington, Chief Revenue
& Philanthropy Officer.

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Foundation
is the non-profit fundraising arm of U.S. Ski
& Snowboard (USSS). This foundation encompasses
a variety of Sport Programs, Development
Programs and Competitions, all
aimed at developing athletes and supporting
coaches, officials, parents, and volunteers
while accomplishing the vision and mission to
make the United States the " Best in the World "
in Olympic skiing and snowboarding.
Unlike their competitors, U.S. Ski &
Snowboard does not receive government
funding for its athletes and programs. They
depend on their fundraising events, special
programs, and individual donations to help
provide their athletes with the resources they
need to become Olympians and team
members - and represent America on and off
the mountain.
A variety of fundraising events are conducted
across the country each year, hosted
by the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Foundation.
These include: the annual New York Gold
Medal Gala, St. Louis Après Ski Party, Park
City Community Reception, Team Fundraisers,
and the Icepeople on Snow Fantasy Camp.
The Foundation offers the annual Gold
Pass, secured with a donation of $15,000.
Only 450 Gold Passes are available each year
through partnership of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard
and the National Ski Areas Association
(NSAA).
What makes the US Ski & Snowboard
Gold Pass so amazing? A major portion of
that donation is tax-deductible and your donation
will not only give unrivaled access to
the USA's best resorts, more than 250 in the
USA, it also provides funding that goes directly
towards the training and development
