Another solution was installing lower cabinets along the wall into the living area to maximize storage. This is where the clients keep
their more long-term entertaining items that
are not used as often. One of the green goals of
the kitchen was to maximize cross ventilation to
pull air through each space.
"To do so, we designed the great room so
that the window openings were located on the
adjacent walls, allowing for the breeze to filter
through the space," explained Pinto.
Although LED lighting was eliminated
to limit costs, other sustainable elements in
this space include Energy Star-rated appliances, WaterSense-labeled plumbing fixtures, a
granite countertop, a green-colored backsplash
with recycled content and FSC-certified hardwood flooring.

MASTER BATH NEEDS

"This space was very important to the husband, and it was why we were initially hired for the project," said Pinto. "He had seen many of our bathroom
designs on Houzz.com and loved the open concepts with the glass accent
tile designs and colors in a large walk-in shower."
They wanted this space to be as open as possible with a large double
vanity, double sinks, quartz countertops and a stacked-stone feature wall.
All of the fixtures are WaterSense certified, and the zero-threshold shower
features rain and hand-held showerheads.The porcelain floor and wall tiles
give the space a bright look and feel and are easy to maintain.
"The stacked-stone wall is the highlight of the bathroom and incorporates texture throughout the space," said Tiare. "It also adds a nice
luxurious touch."
The clients are extremely pleased with their new home, and their favorite elements in the open-concept kitchen are the greenish-hued granite
countertops and the built-in refrigerator/freezer/wine unit combo. In the
master bath, it's all about the surfaces - from the accent tile details to the
stacked stone at the sinks to the glass mosaic in the shower.

