I Can Do Things
You Cannot
Tracy A. Herrewig, MS, RCEP, FAACVPR

"I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot;
together we can do great things." - Mother Teresa

N

o one knows everything
and no one can do
everything. That is one
of the greatest aspects
of working in cardiac
and pulmonary rehabilitation.
We value the importance of
collaboration. We share resources
and knowledge. We energize each
other to improve our programs and
the lives of our patients. We help
each other create new programs,
adapt to health care reform, and
address the day-to-day patient
care needs. Each department
member has the opportunity to
step forward to help move your
department forward.
But how do you know what is
best practice? How do you know
how to create a new program
for patients with peripheral artery
disease? How do you know how
to implement changes that are
necessary for your program to
succeed in the new era of value
based care?
AACVPR recognizes that all of
us need a little help. The theme
of the 32nd Annual Meeting
(October 4-7 in Charleston, SC)
is, "Leading Change." It is a
4

wonderful opportunity to learn
and to interact with professionals
from all over the world who are
just as passionate about their
profession as you are. But the
learning and sharing of best
practice doesn't stop there.
Throughout the year AACVPR
provides resources for program
and professional growth via
Program Certification and the
CCRP professional certifications
as well as the R2R Turnkey
Strategies, core competencies,
and performance measures-
AACVPR is a valuable resource
for all of us to learn what is best
practice. Marissa Mayer (former
CEO of Yahoo!) said, "When
you need to innovate, you need
to collaborate." Collaboration
tends to inspire concepts like
alliance, assistance, teamwork,
partnership, connection, kinship,
support, and engagement.
We are all aware of the changing
world of health care. AACVPR is
your one-stop shop for resources
to improve your practice.
Take advantage of the many
opportunities, starting with the
Annual Meeting in Charleston. 
