t has been almost a year since
I took the gavel and became
President of AACVPR. What
a year it has been! With the
collective leadership and vision
of so many volunteers and AACVPR
staff, we have accomplished
so much!
At the end of the AACVPR Annual
Meeting last year in New Orleans,
I shared a vision with the audience:
a challenge to seize an opportunity
in front of us. I felt very optimistic
about our future and the role that
cardiac and pulmonary rehab could
play in our changing health care
environment. In that presentation,
I set forth three challenges for our
organization:
*
*
*

To Lead Change
To Collaborate
To Leave a Legacy

Inarguably, you all have stepped
up to these challenges. Through
the development of Roadmap to
Reform (R2R), AACVPR is viewed
as the thought leader in the role that
cardiac rehab plays in value-based
care. We have provided tools and
strategies to make programs more
efficient and to increase referrals,

and have educated thousands of
you on how cardiac rehab adapts to
a health care environment focused
on value and quality across the
whole continuum of care. Through
our affiliate network and beyond,
many of you have accepted the
challenge and are leading this
change within your own institutions.

Many of you...are
leading change
within your own
institutions.
Throughout this past year we
have collaborated with so many
to advance our mission and
expand our impact on the field.
Collaborations with ACC and AHA
have led to securing an NCD for
reimbursement for supervised
exercise for PAD. Additionally,
through a strong partnership with
AARC we are in the final stages
of developing a Pulmonary Rehab
Certificate to be rolled out later
this year.
