The world belongs to the energetic.

AACVPR has identified a strong
need for continued engagement with
the next generation of cardiac and
pulmonary rehabilitation professionals,
and has dedicated itself to extending
its reach to young and emerging
professionals in the field. The
Program Planning Committee and
the Student Engagement Task
Force are excited to announce a
new educational opportunity for
"emerging professionals."
This opportunity will be presented
for the first time at the AACVPR
32nd Annual Meeting in Charleston.
It is designed as a "101 course"
targeting current students or recent
graduates, individuals who are new
to the field of CR and PR, and/or
those who are attending their first
AACVPR Annual Meeting. There is
no additional cost to participate in
this educational opportunity. The
following topics will be covered at
these sessions:

*

Marketing yourself as a
new professional

*

Guidelines and suggestions for
poster presentations

*

Getting involved in professional
associations and how/why
to volunteer

*

State association and local
opportunities

*

Looking back at your own
professional development,
what did you wish you knew
coming into the field?

*

Are there differences between
a new graduate and new
professional in CR/PR? If so,
how might we need to target
these differences? (i.e. a true
"student" who has just entered
their first professional field
vs. a healthcare professional
who has simply moved
into CR/PR after starting a
career in another healthcare
environment)

*

Any additional thoughts
or feedback?

In addition to this offering, we will
also have a special "after-party"
networking event on Friday evening
following the celebration banquet
(by invitation only). This will give
these professionals the opportunity
to interact with various leaders and
professionals who have worked in
the industry and with AACVPR.
As we continue to develop these
Annual Meeting opportunities,
as well as other membership
opportunities, the Task Force would
love your feedback and assistance
in continuing to improve our focus
as we navigate through the coming
year. I would like to challenge you

Reaching our emerging
professionals is important to
the industry as a whole and to
AACVPR. Providing targeted
mentorship, education, and
professional development
enhances the ability of these
members to have a better set of
tools in their toolbox of success.
We look forward to seeing all of
you in Charleston and meeting
the emerging professionals in
our field. 
