BVE 2015: The Home Of 4K cont'd...
This incorporates the new JVC GYHM170 and GY-HM200 handheld 1/2.3"
camcorders with a 12x optical zoom,
recording 4K Ultra HD and 4:2:2 HD to
SD cards. On top of built-in ND filters,
and live UHD output, the GY-HM200
adds dual XLR inputs via an integrated
handle. This model also maintains
JVC's admirable streaming capabilities,
allowing Ustream viewers to tune in
live.
In terms of larger sensor models, the
GY-LS300CHE handheld camcorder
and GW-SP100E remote head camera
system (comprising camera head,
a recording/playback device with a
detachable 7-inch LCD monitor and a
wired camera remote control panel)
both employ a new 4K Super 35mm
sensor and MFT lens mount. Variable
Scan Mapping technology maintains
the native angle of view for a variety
of lenses, including Super 35, MFT and
Super 16 and, as a result, lens options
for the cameras are extremely broad.
"People have been very interested in
the new 4K cameras so far, especially
the GY-LS300CHE and the GY-HM200,
and they seem to like the fact that our
cameras have a 4K facility ready for
when they might require it, without
any additional investment," comments

IO Industries: Canadian IO Industries
will focus on its Flare 2K and 4KSDI
products. The higher resolution 4K
/ UltraHD device is designed for
shooting in tight spaces. It is small
and flexible enough to be mounted
to a drone or motorbike and can be
controlled using a handheld remote or
over an RS485 connection.
Panasonic: Panasonic has in the
space of a year developed a strong
UHD offering, from its A500 action
camera, through the acclaimed GH4,
new low-cost HC-X1000 and the
cinematic VariCam. All are expected to
be on show at BVE.

Nigel Wilkes, Group Manager at
Panasonic ProAV UK, said: "We're very
excited to be showing the VariCam at

the camera in September has been
highly impressive and we've had lots
of positive feedback regarding the
camera's colour reproduction and

However, like JVC which is building
broadcast quality HD recording into its
4K products, Panasonic has more than
an eye on core 1080 production. As
such, it will show its two new remote
PTZ cameras, the AW-HE130, and the
AW-HE40. The very user friendly AWHE40 is expected to be ideal for the
lecture, conference and AV market,
while the AW-HE130 can be used from
lecture broadcasting to reality TV and
documentary production. The London
show will be the UK's first chance to
see the new PX800, said to be the
world's lightest 2/3 type shouldermount camcorder with 3MOS image
sensors.
ARRI: ARRI has been resistant to
calls for a native 4K product, a fact
that seems to have harmed it very
little. The dominance of its Alexa
in high end production appears
matched by ARRI's growing success
in the documentary arena where
Amira is winning substantial acclaim.
Interestingly, this newer model has the
capability to record in UltraHD ProRes.
The company declared:
"While widespread adoption of 4K or
UHD for broadcast is still a long way
off, an increasing number of content
owners are becoming concerned that
they ought to safeguard the longevity
of their programmes by ensuring
that they will be suitable for UHD
transmission, should that become a
standard in the future."
