T

he statistics are impressive.
The MENA market for media
and broadcast is projected to be
worth more than $2 billion by 2015.
Driven by a projected tripling in payTV subscriptions by 2015, mobile
penetration rates amongst the highest
in the world, rapidly increasing
deployment of satellites, hundreds of
free-to-air TV channels and investment
in locally-produced content, CABSAT,
suggest the organisers, is probably
the world's best location to secure
profitable growth.
And there's more... Commercial
satellite capacity in the region is
projected to reach $17.2 billion by
2020, up from $10 billion in only
ten years; Penetration of satellite
television into the 80 million
households in the MENA region will
shoot from 65% to over 80% by
2016; Over 500 Free-to-Air television
channels serving the Arab world.

10.5, which enables customers to
make the best possible pictures with
unprecedented flexibility for their
businesses. This major update to
the Dalet AmberFin platform marks
the debut of Dalet AmberFin Dark
enterprise
transcode,
Cinnafilm
Tachyon GPU-accelerated frame-rate
conversion (as part of (AT)3 toolbox),
XAVC support, ARD-ZDF MXF Profiles
and other significant features.
Ben Davenport, Dalet's Director
of Marketing, comments: "Dalet
AmberFin Dark is completely scalable,
enabling businesses to start small
and expand to an enterprise-grade
solution. Meanwhile, unlike other
vendors, who may only provide a
single technology option for temporal

Hiltron
Communications,
the
German
satellite
and
wireless
communications systems integrator,
manufacturer and distributor will
introduce two major additions to its
product range. The HANT-C-Ku dual-

accuracy optical encoders, extended
temperature tolerance and increased
protection against exposure to salt
water. A handheld control for manual
alignment, plus integral de-icing can
also be specified.

The HANT C-Ku is a high quality
3.7 metre antenna for professional
satellite signal monitoring or receiveonly services. A closely integrated
feed system enables the HANT C-Ku
to receive simultaneously the two
linear polarised Ku band signals
and the circular or linear polarised
signals in C band. With a motorised
polariser, the feed can be switched
in C band between linear and circular
polarisation. These sources can be
converted to six independent L band
outputs.
The HMFC motorised feed-change
antenna mount allows easy positioning
of repositioning of waveguide horns
on a motorised tray table. It can be
used for antennas of various types
and sizes. Two waveguide horns
of different sizes can be attached,
allowing signals from satellites
operating in two different frequency
bands to be received electrically
selectable via a single antenna.
Movement of the table is controlled
via the Hiltron's HACU antenna control
software. The waveguide horn for a
desired frequency band can be aligned
into the focal point of the reflector
within 20 seconds.
The Hiltron HMFC can perform
automatic
changeover
of
the
operational feed as well as sequential
measurement of different frequency
bands. Available options include
inclined-orbit
tracking,
high-

multiplexers. Multiplexing either four
or eight bidirectional fibre connections
the new devices are designed for
efficient KVM signal extension over
large distances.
KVM extenders consist of two units
(at the workstation and at remotely
located CPU) and are used for the
extension of computer signals up
to 140 metres with Cat X cable and
10 km with single-mode fibre optic
cable. Multiplexing of different fibre
connections is made possible by the
use of Draco CWDM multiplexers.

MENA market debut for Ikegami's

Ikegami's HC-HD300 3-CMOS studio
camera system makes its MENA market
debut at CABSAT 2015. First announced
in Q3, 2014 and now deliverable, the
HC-HD300 is a compact docking-style
camera for studio or field operation.
An aggressively priced addition to
Ikegami's broadcast-ready Unicam HD
product line, it meets the same high
standard of imagery and has the same
rugged construction.
Intelsat S.A. successfully launched
the Intelsat 30 satellite, which is
hosting the DLA-1 payload for DIRECTV
Latin America from French Guiana.
Built for Intelsat by Space Systems/
Loral (SSL), Intelsat 30 is a 20-kilowatt
class Ku-and C-band satellite. The
Ku-band payload, known as DLA-1,
is designed to provide distribution

services for DIRECTV Latin America in
South America and the Caribbean.

Qvest Media, which has a base in
Dubai, has completed its delivery and
implementation of all production,
broadcast and distribution facilities for
the Arab region's latest breaking-news
channel, Alarab. Based in Bahrain's
capital, Manama, the all-Arabic
channel will include extensive news
programming as well as regular news
roundups and business information in
association with Bloomberg.

media infrastructure to Alarab for
seamless management between all
fields of news production", says Peter
Noethen, Managing Director of Qvest
Media. "We take into account the most
modern forms for IP-based content
aggregation and multiple ways for
broadcasting such as satellite and
online. This helps Alarab to maximise
the efficiency of news production and
distribution."
