Destinations Magazine - November/December 2017 - 18

Denver has a
thriving cultural
scene and natural
beauty.
ABA member
Drayton Hall in
Charleston is
an 18th-century
plantation estate.

Plantations are deeply woven into
American history and tell stories that
connect our past and present. Ramble
up Ashley River Road and begin day
two at Drayton Hall, America's oldest
unrestored plantation house still open
to the public. Then, get ready to explore
America's oldest landscaped gardens,
the original House Museum's collection,
and the artistry of skilled craftspeople
in the Stableyards at Middleton
Place Plantation.
Many come to Charleston with one
thing on their mind: food! The Middleton
Place Restaurant doesn't disappoint with
its traditional Lowcountry lunch, featuring
produce grown at the on-site organic farm.
Conclude the plantation tour at
Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. Lose
yourself amongst the moss-covered oak
trees and blooming azaleas on your journey back in time.
Call it a day and climb aboard the
Carolina Belle with Charleston Harbor
Tours. Enjoy a beautiful sunset and closeup views of the Holy City's most famous
and charming sights.
There are so many blossoming gardens,
so many photo opportunities, and so many
reasons to come back again and again!
