California Gov. Jerry Brown participated in opening ceremonies for Proterra's
Los Angeles County manufacturing plant. Jennifer Granholm, former governor
of Michigan and Proterra board member, and Proterra CEO Ryan Popple also
were in attendance.

Of Proterra's LA Facility
Building Electric Buses 'Creates
Good Jobs, Cleans Up the Air'

Brown joined other
dignitaries July 26 to
commemorate the opening of
Proterra's new manufacturing
facility for battery-electric buses
in Los Angeles County, a facility that will provide long-term
jobs and benefit economically
distressed communities in the
area.
"In order to achieve California's climate goals, we need
more electric cars, trucks and
buses on the road. Manufacturing these electric buses in
California creates good jobs
and cleans up the air," Brown
said.
Proterra Chief Executive
Officer Ryan Popple said,
"As car culture wanes and
more communities embrace
21st-century, multimodal
transit, California has a unique

opportunity to lead the country in this market transition.
We are grateful for Gov. Brown
and the state's support as we
work to modernize and decarbonize transportation for all."
Foothill Transit in West
Covina, located near the new
Proterra facility, operates 17
of Proterra's electric buses and
will be the first public transit
agency to receive the new
Catalyst® E2 later this summer.

by 2030, and this goal has
been made possible by our

Oct. 8-11 in Atlanta to participate in APTA's Annual Meeting-the flagship event for the
public transit industry-and
the triennial International
Public Transportation EXPO,
where more than 700 manufacturers, suppliers and consultants will gather under one roof
in the Georgia World Congress
Center (GWCC).
The Annual Meeting schedule features General Sessions

that address the industry's
emerging trends, concurrent
programs on best practices
and challenges with industry
subject-matter experts, special
events, networking opportunities and more.
EXPO, which encompasses
two halls in the GWCC, is the
industry's premier trade show,
with exhibitors from numerous
countries representing a wide
array of products and services.
In addition to the trade show,
EXPO features topic-specific
sessions in six Learning Zones,

demonstrations, special pavilions and Appreciation Days.

The Annual Meeting schedule begins Saturday, Oct. 7,

INIT to Open N.A. Headquarters
AS PASSENGER TRANSPORT went to
press, INIT Innovations in Transportation Inc.
was preparing for the Aug. 3 grand opening of
its new North American headquarters building
in Chesapeake, VA, a facility that brings together
the company's formerly separate operations-
warehouses, operations and two manufacturing
firms-under a single roof.
"We are very excited to finally have our
entire operations under one roof. This modern
facility allows us to better serve our North
American customers. The city of Chesapeake's
economic development team was instrumental
in helping make our dream home a reality," said
Roland Staib, INIT president and chief executive
officer.

The $12.5 million, 67,000-square-foot facility,
located on eight acres in a business and technology park, houses about 90 employees, including
20 manufacturing employees, in 20,000 square
feet of manufacturing space, 20,000 square feet of
office space and a 27,000-square-foot warehouse.
Chesapeake Mayor Alan P. Krasnoff said, "Our
business community is constantly growing and
creating new jobs and opportunities, and INIT is
a shining example of what happens when international companies choose Chesapeake."
INIT established its North American headquarters in Chesapeake in 1999 with a small
staff of five from Germany. The firm is a major
worldwide supplier of intelligent transportation
systems for public transit.
