LEADERSHIP REFLECTIONS// Call for DBIA Board Nominations AS THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER of DBIA, I see firsthand the important role of the Board of Directors in DBIA’s growth and success. The primary function of the DBIA Board includes input on policy development and the organization’s general strategic direction. This is accomplished through the ability of all Board members to have a broad, outward vision, a clear focus on the overall advancement of the A/E/C industry and a proactive approach to long-term success. Candidates must agree to other key responsibilities as outlined in the Board Charter (www.dbia.org/about/staff/bod). By giving time as a DBIA Board member, you will shape the future of your industry. And you will meet people who will contribute to your professional growth. As an organization that brings together all segments of design and construction, DBIA member volunteers gain direct exposure to multiple viewpoints and perspectives. On behalf of the DBIA National Board of Directors, we invite DBIA members in good standing to submit nominations for the 2012 Board of Directors by August 31. We are seeking candidates who understand and support DBIA’s mission and goals and who are committed to advancing the understanding and use of design-build project delivery across all sectors and markets. The Nomination Committee of the Board will consider the following: • Previous service to and support of DBIA by the nominee or his/her organization • Availability for up to four face-to-face meetings per year (with the exception of public owners, Board members are responsible for their own travel costs) • The DBIA certification credential is preferred, though not required Individuals representing all type of organizations, including public and private owners, are encouraged to apply. A lthough individuals may nominate other people, the full nomination package should come directly from the person being nominated. The nomination must include the following information: • Full resume and condensed bio (condensed version for use by DBIA if selected) • Photo (JPEG file for use by DBIA if selected) • Why you are interested in serving on the DBIA National Board of Directors • A letter confirming your willingness to attend up to four Board meetings per year without travel reimbursement and your commitment to DBIA’s mission and strategic goals • The names and contact information of at least two DBIA members who “second” the nomination Nominations timeline: • August 31: Nominations due • September 23: Last date for phone interviews with nominees and with the Nominating Committee • October 3: Final date for candidates to be notified of recommendations to Board • October 19: Board votes on slate of candidates; new Board members installed at DBIA Membership Luncheon Submit nominations to lwashington@dbia.org. Board service is just one of many ways to contribute to DBIA’s success. We encourage those who are not selected to consider other opportunities for involvement.
