Specialty Consultant: Johnson Engineering; Avalon Engineering Specialty Contractors: Poole & Kent; A&A Electric Other Team Members: LT Security; Precon Corp.; Riteway Site Development The Southwest Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) Project was a $130.8 million, 15.1-MGD expansion successfully delivered under a progressive design-build contract with no missed days of operation. The project was issued as a work authorization under the city’s larger Facilities Expansion Program, which consisted of more than 75 projects valued at $873 million. The Southwest WRF Project added much-needed treatment capacity to accommodate the city’s record growth and expanded utility service infrastructure needs. Merit Award Arbennie Pritchett Water Reclamation Facility Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Owner: Okaloosa County, Fla. Design-Builder: CDM, Inc. Architect: CDM, Inc. Engineer: CDM, Inc. Specialty Consultant: The Constantine Group, Inc. (program manager for Okaloosa County); HDR, Inc. (design criteria professional for Okaloosa County) Specialty Contractors: NWF Contractors, Inc.; RTD Construction, Inc.; PreCon Corporation; Lord and Son Construction, Inc. Okaloosa County Water and Sewer Department teamed with CDM to construct a new, state-of-the-art, 10-MGD facility featuring biological nutrient removal and ultraviolet disinfection. The facility replaced an aging plant with insufficient treatment capacity and addressed various concerns, including redundancy, future expansion and ease of operation. The Arbennie Pritchett Water Reclamation Facility now produces high-quality reclaimed water for groundwater recharge.
