The new headquarters provides 718,850 square feet of Class A office space for five military investigative agencies with more than 2,400 military and civilian employees. Designed and built with sustainability in mind, this project achieved LEED® NC 2.0 (New Commercial Construction Gold) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Civic vIrgINIA BeAch ANIMAl cAre AND ADoptIoN ceNter / vIrgINIA BeAch, vA. // The Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center combines multiple functions in a 37,400-square-foot, state-ofthe-art facility for the care, housing and adoption of animals. Central to the project was the integration of the needs of animals and caretakers into an attractive, friendly shelter that is a pleasant place for animals to live and potential adoptive families to visit. Commercial oMNI DAllAs coNveNtIoN ceNter hotel / DAllAs // The Omni Dallas Convention Center Hotel in Dallas is a fourstar, 1.14-million-square-foot property featuring 1,001 guest rooms, 110,000 square feet of meeting space and ballrooms and a 720-car garage. The hotel conveniently connects to the adjacent Dallas Convention Center via skybridge. The Omni Dallas Convention Center Hotel is the first and only LEED® Gold hotel in Texas and the largest LEED Gold, new-construction hotel in the United States outside of Las Vegas. Correctional Facilities JoINt regIoNAl correctIoNAl fAcIlIty southwest, McAs MIrAMAr / MIrAMAr, cAlIf. // The Joint Regional Correctional Facility Southwest, MCAS Miramar, added 99,000 square feet to the Naval Consolidated Brig Miramar’s existing confinement complex at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Miramar Brig serves as the Navy Personnel Command’s military confinement facility for the entire Southwest region and was created through the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Act of 2005. The brig has 200 precast concrete cells to accommodate men and women. Educational Facilities uNIteD stAtes MIlItAry AcADeMy prepArAtory school / west poINt, N.y. // The new 256,000-square-foot United States Military Academy Preparator y School at West Point prov ides a 70,0 0 0 -square-foot , t h ree-stor y coed bar rack s; a n 81,800-square-foot, four-story academic building; and a 69,968-square-foot indoor athletic facility with an adjacent 35,152-square-foot covered practice field. The school is aiming for LEED® Gold certification and was constructed under an aggressive two-phase occupancy schedule. Healthcare Facilities wAlter reeD NAtIoNAl MIlItAry MeDIcAl ceNter / BethesDA, MD. // The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is among the military’s flagship healthcare facilities. Designbuild provided the government with the scheduling and budget certainty that the project demanded. The project’s scope included Water/Wastewater Honor Award BuckMAN DIrect DIversIoN proJect sANtA fe, N.M. Owners: City of Santa Fe, County of Santa Fe and Buckman Direct Diversion Board Design-Builder: CH2M HILL/Western Summit Constructors Joint Venture Architect and Engineer: CH2M HILL Specialty Consultants: AMEC, Bohannon Huston, HDR and Molzen Corbin and Spears Architects Specialty Contractors: McDade Woodcock, ERS Constructors, Natgun and Yearout Mechanical Other Key Professional: CDM Smith, owner’s agent The Buckman Direct Diversion was a $220-million drinking water project consisting of the diversion structure; five pump stations; 31 miles of pipeline; and a state-of-the-art, 15-million-gallon-per-day water-treatment plant.
