the GAMA board. One early success: the
first LAMP women’s session and networking
reception, which debuted this year to a large
crowd at the conference in Orlando.
Former GAMA
president John Baier,
M.S.F.S., CLU ChFC CFP
CLF, is leading a task
force to expand GAMA’s
international presence.
Session speaker Mary Quist-Newins, M.B.A.,
CLU ChFC CFP, of State Farm and the
American College, pointed out that “women
today represent the biggest marketing
opportunity that financial services have seen

and mutual funds.” Added speaker Georgette
H. Geller, CLU ChFC, of AXA Equitable,

LIMRA, want a female advisor.”

International members now represent 40
percent of the association’s total count and
hail from such places as Hong Kong (1,116),
Canada (661), the Philippines (375), Tailand
(181), and Mexico (133).
Meanwhile, GAMA has launched the
International Business Development Task

needs of the international community of
field leaders by expanding brand recognition
and spreading the mission of GAMA.” Led
by 2010–11 GAMA president John T. Baier,
M.S.F.S., CLU ChFC CFP CLF, the task
force aims to boost the number of non-U.S.
Partners in Management Growth, identify
