University of Michigan Team Wins NOCoE Transportation Technology Tournament
A student team from the University of Michigan was the winner of the second annual
Transportation Technology Tournament at
the 2019 ITE Joint International and Texas
District Annual Meeting in Austin, TX, USA on
July 23, 2019.
The tournament is a joint effort of the ITS JPO
Professional Capacity Building  program and
the National Operations Center of Excellence
(NOCoE) to help push the future workforce to understand the communications,
teamwork, planning, and interdisciplinary
skills required to work in the transportation
industry. Nine participant teams were asked
to work with a local or state department of
transportation (DOT) to identify a real-world
challenge that a DOT is facing and to use ITS
technologies and transportation systems
management and operations (TSMO) strat-
