Arctic Tech Conference
To Be Held In St. John's
TULSA-The Offshore Technology
Conference's Arctic Technology Conference (ATC) returns to North America for
its fifth event in St. John's, Newfoundland
and Labrador, Canada. OTC says the
event will be held Oct. 24-26.
"Located along the 'path to the Arctic,'
St. John's is an ideal staging area and
proving ground for Arctic-related research,
and offers the global energy industry a
strategic North Atlantic base of operations
on international shipping lanes and sea
routes," OTC says.
The conference features a highly specialized technical program, incorporating
topics from sponsoring organizations that
include resources, drilling, production,
export facilities, physical environment,
logistics and marine transport, regulatory
and mining, OTC says. It adds there will
be special sessions on Arctic policy,
market outlook, risk management and
standards.
ATC 2016 also will repeat the Spotlight
on Arctic Technology Awards, which recognize innovative new products that provide significant impact for Arctic exploration and production, OTC says.
"Although some developments already
have been undertaken, the Arctic remains
one of the last frontiers," suggests ATC
Chairman Walter Kuehnlein. "ATC attracts
experienced Arctic experts who are interested in evaluating new opportunities
and developing and deploying cuttingedge technology and solutions through
environmentally compatible design and
construction, safe operation, maintenance
and integrity of both offshore and onshore
structures."

Enertia Software has appointed its
former director of application development, Nic Burtea, to chief information
officer.
Burtea has worked at Enertia since
2000, when he began in software development, software architecture design
and product/project management. Previously, he worked as a project engineer
for Maddox Metal Works.
He has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas
at Arlington and a M.S. in in software
engineering from Southern Methodist
University.

Eos Petro Inc. has appointed Alan
D. Gaines its chief executive officer.
Gaines founded Dune Energy Inc.,
where his roles included chairman of
the board of directors and chief executive officer. He also was a driving force
behind Dune's successful effort to raise
more than $500 million, which allowed
the firm to acquire Goldking Energy
Corp. Before launching Dune, Gaines
co-founded Berland Inc., a full service
investment bank/advisory and brokerage, where he acted as lead underwriter
and/or participated in placing more than
$3 billion of equity and debt securities
in the energy sector.

Epic Lift Systems LLC has appointed David Nemeskal chief executive officer.
Nemeskal joins Epic following a
successful private equity career, most recently at Epic's majority stakeholder, Intervale Capital. During his tenure there,
he managed several other investments,
including Aegis Chemical Solutions and
Antelope Oil Tools. Before coming to
Intervale, he co-founded and served as
CEO of a social media marketing firm,
and had a lengthy private equity career

The Texas Railroad Commission
has appointed Kimberly Corley its executive director and Alexander Schoch
its general counsel.
Corley has 30 years of technical,
policy and strategic experience in oil
and gas and pipeline operations. Most
recently, she worked as business development manager for gas monetization
and general manager of construction
risk mitigation and workforce development for Shell Upstream Americas. She
has a B.B.A. from Sam Houston State
University and an M.S. of liberal studies
with concentration in environmental science and policy from Rice University.
Schoch has three decades of executive and industry-related legal experience. Previously, he worked as Peabody
Energy's executive vice president, chief
legal officer and secretary. He also has
been an international attorney for
Marathon Oil Corp. He is a member of
the State Bar of Texas and the American
Bar Association, and has been elected a
member of the American Law Institute.

HACKLEY

Grant Hackley has joined Babst
Calland as an associate in the energy
and natural resources group. His practice focuses on energy law, counseling
clients on a wide array of issues relating
to ownership of and title to oil and gas,
including preparing oil and gas title
opinions, title examination, litigation
and contractual issues.
Hackley is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. ❒
