Are you drowning in your to-do list? Check out these tips to structure your week for maximum productivity and maximum sales.

Communicate: Tell key players about your
expectations surrounding your punch list and
how and when they will be involved. Provide
space for your team to ask questions, whether this is in a team meeting or one-on-one.
Schedule out individual touch bases to dig in
to projects in more detail if needed.

A Case of the Mondays

ONE OF THE BEST LESSONS I LEARNED IN MY
retail career is how important Mondays are
to the success of your business. Some people
think Mondays are the worst, but Mondays
are the greatest day of the week and provide
the best opportunity for lasting impact on
your business. Mondays are the day of planning for your business, and if you treat your
Mondays as sacred and protect them as such,
they will give you everything you need to have
a successful week. Successful Mondays allow
you to be in execution mode for the remainder of your week and give you the freedom
to be with your staff and customers without
your to-do list looming. Did I mention yet that
Mondays are important?
If you aren't already using Mondays as the
launching point for your week, here is a list of
Monday to-dos to get you started.

to-do's will have the most impact on your business. Be realistic with this list and ask yourself,
" What can get pushed to next week? Is this
really a priority? Will this impact sales? Will
this impact morale? Am I the only person who
can get this done or can I delegate this task? "
And, yes, sometimes motivating your people
is more important than tweaking a system for
more efficiency.
Prioritize: Now take what is truly a priority from your list, organize in order of importance, recognizing that everything on the list
will probably not get accomplished. Identify
the top 10 or top five priorities for the week.
Schedule: Plan out the who, what, and when
from your priority list. This will make sure that

Plan a Midweek Assessment: Schedule an
hour of time on Thursdays to check in with
your to-do list and your team. Does anything need to be adjusted for weekend business? Does anything need to be pushed to
next week? How is everyone feeling about
the week so far? This will allow you to maximize your weekend sales. If small moves or
scheduling adjustments need to be made,
this is when you can make them. Carve out a
minimum of two hours to accomplish your

Pat Yourself on the Back: With your to-do
list planned and everyone in execution mode,
you can enjoy the remaining days of the week
on the sales floor with your team and your

Store Walkthrough: Before opening, walk
through the store with your merchandising
team to visually identify overperforming and
underperforming items and categories. This
will allow you to translate your data analytics
to a visual picture. A simple move of a sweater
from hanging to folded could make the difference in $1,000 of sales for the next week. Be sure
to allow time for assessment of your selling team
and operations performance during your walkthrough. Use this time to brainstorm and strategize solutions to the challenges that arise.
