Novatec Braids was established in 1992 and is located in the
old Dominion Textile plant at the head of the busy commercial
harbour in Yarmouth Nova Scotia. With 30,000 square feet of
manufacturing space the company produces a wide array of
specialty braided ropes for the commercial fishery, marine
industry, power utilities, recreational boating and the military.
The breadth of the product range is amazing and includes
specialty ropes for aircraft, physical therapy and even golf rope!
I didn't know you needed rope to play golf, but it turns out
Novatec Braids make high visibility ropes for boundaries and a
proprietary "Engage Agro Fairway Snake System" for removing
dew from fairways.
The company launched their Novabraid® brand in 2000
and has steadily expanded its product range and territory.
Novatec have an East Coast US warehouse located in New
Bedford Mass. to facilitate order fulfilment in the US.
The company began with products focused on the commercial fishing industry and this sector remains a significant
portion of their business. Of interest to the recreational boating market, they have developed high quality polyester covered shock cord, pre-spliced mooring line components and
yacht braids in Dyneema, Spectra, and Kevlar. New high tech
yarn research continues to make product development possible to replace heavier wire rope.
