Hop on a horse at Baldwin Lake Stables for a tranquil ride in the valley.

DAY 1: With its rich pioneering history, Big Bear
is a boon for the cowboys and cowgirls looking to
embrace some of that Old West spirit. Take a ride on
a horse at Baldwin Lake Stables & Petting Zoo for
one-hour, three-hour, half-day, or sunset rides to
experience the valley's fall colors without the distraction of an engine.
Complete your day with a pioneer-style meal at
Old Country Inn. Feast on American classics such
as baby back ribs, burgers, massive steaks, and
homemade chili.
DAY 2: A four-season destination, Big Bear boasts
a truly mesmerizing fall canopy as the forests turn
red and golden. Before you start your autumn
adventure, grab a traditional American or German
breakfast at The Barnstorm Restaurant at Big Bear
Airport. Next, experience fall colors like never
before when you take to the skies with Helicopter
Big Bear. Enjoy a quick jaunt around the valley
with a seven-minute flight out of the airport, take
in the lake on a 20-minute excursion, or tour the

vast mountain range on a majestic 40-minute aerial
adventure.
For something a little closer to the ground, fly
through the forests on a zipline tour with Action
Tours. The package includes nine thrilling highspeed ziplines and a trip on a suspension bridge
over mountain terrain.
Settle back down to earth at Big Bear Lake Brewing Company, where you can calm your nerves with
sips of the brewery's craft beers and munch on tasty

DAY 3: Get away from it all and hike on the Pacific
Crest Trail for scenic vistas of the valley in all its
autumnal glory, or decompress with some morning
yoga at Mountain Yoga Center. If you need a burst
of excitement, sign up for an escape room experience at Mountain Room Escapes or Big Bear
Escape Rooms. After you've exercised your body
and mind, finish your weekend with a lunch at The
Pines Tavern on the Lake. Offering delicious pub
"faire" alongside a large selection of craft beer, wine,
and boutique spirits with unbeatable views of the
lake, it's the perfect toast to a wonderful three-day
weekend getaway.

This year marks the 50th
anniversary of beers,
brats, and bands in Big
Bear, a tradition begun by
Hans and Erika Bandows,
a couple who emigrated
to the area from Munich,
Germany, in 1969 after
purchasing what is now
the Wolf Creek Lodge.
To this day, Hans is still
celebrated as the festival's
burgermeister.
