John Henes Park is named for the community resident and businessman who developed a unique parcel of land known as Poplar Point and gave it to the City of Menominee in 1907. The park is one of the community's star attractions and has served as host to school picnics, wedding receptions, graduation parties and family reunions for more than a century. John Henes Park may truly be the one place in town that consistently brings generations of current and former residents together. Although the park has seen many changes over the years in attractions- the deer pen, a zoo, a miniature railroad-the park's main road and its many trails are solid links to that original gift to the city.
