The previous wall ovens were replaced with a range, which led to more counter space by the refrigerator, and the gray subway tile backsplash creates visual interest in the otherwise neutral-toned kitchen. The professional-style appliances are integrated into the classic, inset cabinets for a clean look, and iron lanterns on either side of the antique glass display cabinets add charm to the space. The new island, which sits on four legs to feel more like furniture, offers extra storage on the backside, and recessed lighting and the removal of a swinging door into the dining room provide more light for the space, which was another important goal of the project. The original oak wood flooring - a classic design element in Cape Cod-style spaces - was refinished with a darker stain, and a wood hood over the new range provides improved ventilation. A gray backsplash and black soapstone countertops add visual interest to the space. 88 + K BB February 2014 / www.kbbonline.com / The Official Sponsor of KBIS www.kbis.comhttp://www.kbbonline.com http://www.kbis.com
