An Interview
with Trevell Moxey

Students were faced with a slew of emotions following the results of the Big Game. That, in addition
to the usual stresses of academic and professional development, supports the relevance of practicing
mindfulness as described by NYCPM's Student Council President, Trevell Moxey.
During his undergraduate years, Mr. Moxey worked with The Alliance for Decision Education
in Philadelphia. His research formulated various mindfulness training techniques for youths
living in the city. The techniques were to be implemented into the daily schedules of students,
between classes, or during after school programs. The programs taught students to modify their
decision making process and equipped them with the proper tools to handle intense, stressful, or
uncomfortable situations more efficiently.
" There isn't a more important set of skills that we
can teach today's youth other than how to approach
decision-making, including clarifying their values
and goals, thinking probabilistically, recognizing and
resisting cognitive biases, and taking actions that are
consistent with their desired outcomes. "
For those interested in learning about the organization itself, Alliance for Decision Education is
a nonprofit organization leading the growing call to have Decision Education taught in schools
across the country. They are grounded in the understanding that better decisions lead to better
