n Wednesday, November 15, 2017 the MBA Trial
Lawyers Section hosted a reception honoring
Montgomery County Court Administrator Michael R.
Kehs, Esq., who they selected as 2017 Trial Lawyer of the Year.
After working as a law clerk, an Assistant District Attorney,
and in private practice, Mr. Kehs was appointed by the
Montgomery County Board of Judges as Deputy Court
Administrator in 1991. He was then appointed to the position
of District Court Administrator in 1999. During his tenure
with the Courts, Mr. Kehs has instituted countless projects for
the betterment of the Court, attorneys, and the public. He
assisted the Court with every operational aspect of the highest
profile criminal trials in the nation: Commonwealth v. William
Henry Cosby, Jr. Most recently, Mr. Kehs was elected to serve as
President of the Pennsylvania Association of Court Management
- a professional association that provides a forum for education,
training, and fellowship of its members to improve court
operations and the profession of court management.

Each year, the Trial Lawyers Section presents the James P.
Fox Award to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional
skill as a civil litigation and trial lawyer. Criteria for this award,
established by the Fox family to "recognize lawyers who toil in
the trenches with dignity and respect," include a dedication to
promoting a positive image for attorneys through a professional
demeanor, service and integrity. Mr. Kehs has epitomized these
ideals with his professionalism, skill, and service to the Trial Bar
over the course of his 30-year career.
