Firms Rely On PermIndex®
For Reservoir Estimates

HOUSTON-MicroSeismic Inc. says
field tests conducted this year for several
key North American operators, enabled
by the newest developments in the company's PermIndex® workflow, have successfully calculated reservoir drainage
volumes and provided early estimates of
production.
According to the company, understanding a well's production and reservoir
drainage before its production phase enables completion optimization immediately
after treatment, at least six months before
regular production information would be
available. MicroSeismic says this insight
allows an operator to evaluate the success
of each treatment stage and improve completion plans by adjusting well spacing,
treatment stage spacing or treatment designs for future wells, based on production
goals or economic thresholds.
MicroSeismic released PermIndex, a
proprietary microseismic-based method for
quantifying unconventional reservoir permeability, in 2014. The company says it
has spent the past year demonstrating that
the PermIndex workflow is able to predict
reservoir drainage patterns and production
using microseismic data of the fractures.
"MicroSeismic's PermIndex production
predictions matched closely with our actual
production results," testifies Casey Lipp, a
geologist at Peregrine Petroleum, which
partnered with MicroSeismic for a case
study using PermIndex. "Based on preliminary results, we have engaged in a pilot
program to use the results for future field
optimization."

BOSTON-BV Investment Partners has
made a major investment in geoLOGIC
systems ltd. by acquiring the shares of
company founders Joe and Denise Harris.
The transaction was completed in partnership with geoLOGIC President and Chief
Executive Officer David Hood, who will
retain his entire ownership interest in the
company.
Founded in 1983 and headquartered in
Calgary, geoLOGIC creates and supplies
data and integrated software solutions to
oil and gas exploration, drilling and production companies and related industries

business line, and CGG announce a geosciences technology collaboration.
The companies say the agreement will
allow shared customers to seamlessly access
interpretation and reservoir characterization
technologies and geoscience data from both
companies, using the industry's first exploration and production enterprise class
platform: Landmark's DecisionSpace®. According to the companies, a series of unique
workflows enabled by the platform will be
delivered through connectivity of geoscience
applications and data.
