7 bow and the peghead clamped firmly, I re-glued the fingerboard - "stretching" the neck so the fingerboard would act as a permanent clamp to keep the neck straight. 4) I used a fine-point Sharpie to draw a line where the fretboard ended originally; after having been loosened, it's now almost 1/16" further forward. 5) With the binding still pulled back, I strung the bass to pitch so I could check the results; the neck had straightened perfectly! 6) After reinstalling the binding, I leveled the fretboard for a refinish and new frets. 7) After sanding and buffing several coats of superglue, I installed new frets, set it up, and shipped it to a happy customer.
