GoPro Stars In
'The Martian'
USA: GoPro, an enabler of some
of today's most immersive and
engaging content, has announced
a collaboration with legendary
Hollywood Director, Ridley Scott,
on the production of 20th Century
Fox's The Martian.
Scott's use of GoPro cameras in the
production of the film represents
the biggest cinematic integration
of GoPro cameras in a Hollywood
release,
unlocking
creative
perspectives of what life on Mars
would be like and drawing the
viewer closer to the story.

RT Software Uses
AJA Corvid 88
USA: Broadcast graphics systems
developer RT Software has
standardised using AJA Video
Systems' Corvid 88 video card in
its 4K real-time broadcast graphics
systems.
The company is also integrating
AJA's Io 4K with Thunderbolt 2 and
4K support into its up-and-coming
4K camera stitching solution,
tOG-Vista.
RT Software's first system to
integrate Corvid 88 is a tOG-VR 3D
solution currently deployed at BT
Sports to facilitate exclusive 4K
broadcasts of the 2015/2016 UEFA
Champions League season.

Television Ltd" is the first major
client to acquire Fujifilm's new UASeries 4K U-HDTV lenses for their
newly built 4K UHD OB Van built
by Timeline Television's System
Integration division.
The unit contains the latest UHD
4K technology including Sony 4300
2/3 inch UHD 4K cameras, Sony
UHD 4K PWS-4400 server and the
world's first 4K UHD Fujinon 2/3inch lenses UA80x9 (9-1440mm)
EFP box and UA22x8 (8-352mm)
ENG lenses.

2015 Red Bull Air Race

eploying the new MetroN core
router along with its MediorNet
real-time media network, Riedel
Communications radically reduced
the signal-distribution infrastructure
required to support the Red Bull
Air Race World Championships.

Throughout the season, this new
solution enabled Riedel to reduce
the required hardware by 75% while
increasing available bandwidth.
Providing a massive 640 gigabytes
of real-time signal-routing in just 2
RU, Riedel's MediorNet MetroN fibre
router enables users
to configure robust
and highly redundant
MediorNet installations
using less hardware and
cabling. The addition
of this fibre router to
the MediorNet systems
typically implemented
for the Red Bull Air Race
World
Championship
Riedel MetroN streamlined signal distribution for
2015 Red Bull Air Race World Championship
facilitates the transport

of large volumes of high-bandwidth
signals without compromising the
flexibility of the network.
During the air races, pilots navigate
an aerial racetrack featuring air-filled
pylons in the fastest possible time,
incurring as few penalties as possible.
Each of the 14 race planes is equipped
with two HD cameras - one at the
aircraft's tail and one in the cockpit
- that are remotely controlled from
the ground. Video is delivered to the
ground along with aircraft telemetry
via a Riedel RF link, and these video
signals and data are then passed to
race control, the individual teams,
and TVN Mobile Productions - partner
to broadcaster EURO TV - via the
MediorNet network.

Globecast Successfully Supports
All Africa Games

lobecast, a global solutions
provider
for
media,
has
announced that it has successfully
completed a major project with its
customer Lagardere Sports to bring
comprehensive daily coverage of the
11th All Africa Games to European and
African audiences.
The 11th All Africa Games took place
from September 4-19 in Brazzaville,
Republic of the Congo. This edition
marked the 50th anniversary of
the Games - with over 50 countries
involved in 22 sports - as well as their
return to the Congo.
Globecast was contracted by
sports marketing agency Lagardere
Sports, leader in the management of

marketing and audiovisual
rights for sports in Europe
and Africa.
Globecast
provided
two flyaway antennas in
Brazzaville with dedicated
satellite
capacity
for
four contribution feeds
(equivalent to 300 hours
of satellite time) from the country to
France. These four feeds were received
in Globecast's Paris headquarters with
London operating as backup.
As
well
as
the
technical
infrastructure, Globecast also took
the four feeds arriving in its Parisian
MCR and created a comprehensive
single package for broadcasters. This

included three language variants -
Arabic, French and English. This was
achieved using dedicated commentary
facilities within Globecast with the
programme broadcast for six hours
per day using three satellite feeds for
European and African broadcasters to
retransmit.
