migrate to an HDR world. Technicolor
used its new 4K HDR set top box to
decode and play live HDR video, while
simultaneously playing the same
signal on a current generation 4K SDR
decoder to demonstrate the directly
backward compatible stream.
Also at IBC 2015, EVS unveiled
"IP4Live", a strategic approach to IP
transition that focuses on bringing
the benefits of IP-based workflows
to live production, while preserving
customers' existing investments. The
key is enabling existing solutions to
offer a smooth transition to IP. EVS is
spending time and resources creating
the best solutions for an IT-based
broadcast future. This means working
with other industry players like Cisco
and Imagine Communications to offer
best-of-breed, end-to-end solutions,
and supporting multiple standards
and compression initiatives. EVS is
also involved - alongside leading
industry vendors - in the LiveIP
Project led by VRT and EBU. The
progressive migration to IP will require
a combination of smart management
of hybrid SDI/IP workflows, integration
of off-the-shelf networking equipment,
and new solutions that will optimise
production technology resources
and define new distributed workflow
operations like the ability to produce
content remotely - already made
possible through EVS' IP-based
switcher DYVI.
FileCatalyst's Direct client and
server applications enable point to
point accelerated file transfers at

company's UDP-based file transfer
technology, FileCatalyst Direct is
claimed to be immune to the effects of
packet loss and latency on a network.

to power its new live TV streaming

America and the Caribbean.
NTP Technology demonstrated
its new Blue | Net as the core of a
stand-alone router control system
for Dante compliant audio over IP,
with a router structure using an IP

network as audio backbone, as well
as a router configuration using Penta
720 as a 1Kx1K MADI Main router. Blue
| Net incorporates NTP's RCCoreV5QNX
based router controller. This provides
a database-driven control system with
full integration of the Dante routing
API, running either on the NTP 635
redundant controllers or as a virtual
application on a standard Windows
server. Blue | Net has the ability to
cover systems with any configuration
of Dante enabled audio devices either
by NTP or other vendors. Operation
of Blue | Net routing is via various
software GUI client applications for
connection management, scheduling
and signal monitoring.

CloudAir can be tailored to provide
the capabilities customers require
for their current activities. The range
of modules embraces ingest, source
transcoding, quality control, Media
Asset Management, production, postproduction, subtitling, scheduling,
playout and transmission. CloudAir can
be operated in fully automated mode
with the option of making schedule
alterations or live inserts at any time
in response to late-breaking news. All
CloudAir modules are controlled via
unified interface which can be used
locally or remotely via a standard
HTML web browser. Each element
of the control interface provides the
information an operator needs to
process the task in hand, including
the freedom to decide the order in
which these processes are performed.

Automated alerts warn if any element
of a schedule requires additional
attention before being transmitted.
Stirlitz Media's SMP operates
in a fully automated mode and can
generate multiple podcasts from
a single audio source. Using start
and duration information from the
operator's play-out software as-run
logs and mike-open/close switch
events from the source console, SMP
creates podcasts consisting of any
combination of live and stored content.
Thomson Video Networks and
Netgem announced a partnership
to offer broadcasters and telcos a
platform for IPTV and OTT services.
The two companies have completed
test and validation trials for the
interoperability of the Thomson ViBE
VS7000 convergent video system and
the Netgem N5000 and N8000 range
of IPTV set-top boxes. The Thomson
ViBE VS7000 convergent video system
uses adaptive bit rate encoding to
stream to smartphones, tablets, and
PCs. Netgem's OTT set-top boxes are
intended for use with on large TV
displays.
