ZEISS Milvus Lens Family
Debuts At IBC
D

uring the IBC Show 2015, ZEISS
premiered the ZEISS Milvus SLR
lens family: a total of six different
lenses (ZE and ZF.2 mounts) for highresolution DSLR cameras, compact
professional video cameras and
mirrorless E-mount cameras via an
adapter solution.
With their attractive cost-benefit
ratio, the ZEISS Milvus lenses open up
the field of professional videography
to ambitious users. A case specially
designed for the lenses is also being
presented. The ZEISS Milvus Lens
Case Set contains dedicated inlays
with openings for up to six lenses.
Deliveries of the ZEISS Milvus lenses
will commence in October 2015.
High-Quality Filming With
ZEISS Milvus Lenses
As full-frame camera lenses, ZEISS
Milvus lenses also enable high-

quality film recordings with soft and
cinematic bokeh. "With their high
contrast rendition and low level of
stray light, the lenses meet the latest
video standards such as HDR (High
Dynamic Range) and resolutions
of 6K and more. In other words,
they are a future-proof investment.
They also display uniform colour
characteristics across all focal
lengths," says Christophe Casenave,
Product Manager for ZEISS Camera
Lenses. All six ZEISS Milvus lenses have
exceptionally long rotation angles of
the focus ring for precise focusing.
The practical, rubber-covered focus
ring features outstanding grip
properties for optimal focusing. The
'de-click' function in the ZF.2 mount
lenses allows filmmakers to adjust the
aperture freely and smoothly, enabling
professional results even in changing
light conditions.

The ZEISS Milvus lens family will
initially consist of the following six
focal lengths: ZEISS Milvus 2.8/21,
ZEISS Milvus 2/35, ZEISS Milvus 1.4/50,
ZEISS Milvus 1.4/85 as well as the two
macro lenses ZEISS Milvus 2/50M and
ZEISS Milvus 2/100M. Further focal
lengths will be added to the ZEISS
Milvus lens family over the next few
years.

a durable plastic material, the case is
waterproof and is designed for up to

six lenses," Casenave continues. The
case accommodates both the ZEISS
Milvus lenses and the ZEISS Classic
lenses using the appropriate inlays.
Additional Highlights At IBC 2015
ZEISS also presented other wellknown lenses at the IBC Show: the
ZEISS Otus SLR lenses, the E-mount
full-frame ZEISS Loxia and ZEISS Batis
lenses, and the ZEISS Compact Prime
CP.2 and ZEISS Compact Zoom CZ.2
lenses.
In addition, the products ARRI/ZEISS
Ultra Prime, ARRI/ZEISS Master Prime
and ARRI/ZEISS Master Anamorphic
for high-end movie productions were
tested at the booth.

Absen Unveils Latest Broadcast Ready
LED Solutions At IBC

a global manufacturer of high
quality LED displays, exhibited this year
for the first time at the IBC trade show
at the Amsterdam RAI.
The move to exhibit at IBC - one of
the fastest growing events catering
for the broadcast and electronic
media content industries - reflects
Absen's success in the high quality
LED industry. The company has
experienced consistent growth thanks
to a successful range of solutions that
are perfectly suited for applications
that require Narrow Pixel Pitch (NPP)
products, including in the broadcast
market.
To mark the occasion, Absen
unveiled one of its first broadcast
ready LED panels, the 2.4mm pixel
pitch N2. "Absen is extremely excited
to debut the N2 panel at this year's
IBC show," commented Ruben Rengel,
Managing Director of Absen Europe.
"Although the N2 and its bigger
brother, the N4, are highly versatile
LED panels suitable for a whole
manner of indoor applications from
retail to digital signage, we're here at

IBC to demonstrate their relevance for
the broadcast market too."
The HD resolution available with
the Absen N2 NPP technology is
ideally poised for the retail and
broadcast market, where pin sharp
image projection is a prerequisite for
any application. The N2 also utilises
Absen's third generation calibration
technology, which offers consumers
great colour consistency and image.
Thanks to its ultra low 2.4mm pixel
pitch, all of the highly accurate colour
consistency and brightness uniformity
has the ability to be represented
realistically on camera in any
broadcast environment.
Another feature making the N2
Series cabinet ideally suited to both
retail and broadcast environments
is its power supply and cooling
system. The cabinet's power supply
and fan-less cooling system ensures
operational silence, allowing the panel
to blend into the ambiance of any
environment.
Furthermore, thanks to the fact
that the entire installation's thickness
is within 10cm, the N Series has the

potential to save a lot of installation
space for customers in the kind of
commercial areas with expensive rent
or property prices, thus saving space
and ultimately financial expense. In
addition, the N2 offers extremely easy
front service and installation, saving
space and ensuring ease of installation
and maintenance.
Also exhibited on the live broadcast
set inspired stand were two products
from the much revered A Series of
ultra-high definition LED panels, the
Absen A1.2 and A1.6. Much like N2,
the A1.2 and A1.6 offer NPP solutions
perfectly suited for the broadcast
environment where pin sharp pictures
are required for HD camera shots.
Also ideal for control rooms, shopping
centres, conference rooms and

other high end indoor applications
requiring the finest images, the ultralightweight LED panels (with 1.2 and
1.6mm pixel pitch respectively) utilise
Absen's unique panel locking system
to enable ease and speed of assembly.
The A1.2 and A1.6 - which incorporate
Absen's integrated A3C (Absen third
Generation Calibration) technology.
